DeannaP An E.D strategy to go with this activity would be to “activate or supply background knowledge” by going season by season and what the weather is like that season and what they may do or have done that season. An ESOL strategy that is similar to the E.D strategy is to “link lesson to students‘ prior knowledge”. So when the rest get a snow day, they stay in and read. When it happens in the So. Cal. Desert? We spend the day playing in it. They closed the schools, so the oldest woke up to his first ever actual snow day, which prompted my husband to play hookie from work a little bit today so we could go play in the snow. And the boy and I ended the snow day with hot chocolate and a latte for me. Good day, and I might get to read a bit tonight. #snowday ⬇️

SleepyDragon Btw, tagged is an excellent, fun read. Also, the one pic in the collage is of my oldest son building a snowman with some random people at the park my husband took him to this morning instead of school. The other is a snow covered Joshua Tree. (Trippy!) We all went to a park later in the afternoon so the twins could also experience snowfall. Awesome day! 5y

This FF book was such a fun and imaginative story to read! I enjoyed it so much especially since I wish Christmas was all year myself. This book is about a young boy who dreams about having a snowman who never melts to join him all year! They do everything together from riding a roller coaster to enjoying the 4th of July fireworks together! I think that the UDL 1.1 would fit this book with activities like comparing the seasons.

AmyPerezCubas For this book I would definitely use 45 for ESOL learning and I would have them compare and contrast the seasons and other items together for a fun activity. I also would have the kids make their own snowmen and have each of them wear summer clothing for some fun! 6y
