Not as innovative as it wants to think it is, and lacking in evidence for its points. Discusses the “murder“ of Tutankhamun and completely ignores the evidence of the recent CT scan that there was no such thing.

There are some interesting speculations and a reasonably thorough going-over of the evidence, but also big gaps.

shanaqui Hm: the book cover didn't make this clear because it talks about being new and revolutionary, but the text was originally written before then and seems to be unedited in this 2019 edition. This is so much my thing it might as well have come off the shelf dancing with pompoms and flashing my name in lights! Got started on it already. Back cover promises insight into whether Tutankhamen was murdered, which I thought I remembered had been discredited... But we'll see, we'll see. I don't know that much about excavations at Amarna despite my interest in the period, so that first introductory chapter was really helpful context.
