FROM THE WINNER OF THE CWA INTERNATIONAL DAGGER 2010 FOR THE DARKEST ROOM 'A compelling and scary psychological thriller' - Sunday Mirror Who amongst us can really say they’re sane? Jan has just started working at the Dell nursery. But this is no normal nursery. It’s linked to a high-security asylum by a dimly-lit underground tunnel, which is used for the children to visit their parents. Who are some of the most dangerous psychopaths in the country. And Jan has complicated reasons for being here. There’s something he’s not telling people about his past. And there’s someone in the asylum who he really wants to see . . .

It was a toss up between 3 and 4 stars. I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interest, sometimes keeping me up later than I should. I liked the subdued voice, it made it feel Iike the MC was lonely. A lot of reviews wrote that the end was predictable. I didn‘t think so, but it wasn‘t a huge shock, either. I‘d like to read more by this author.

Mehso-so

Scandinavian noir and was expecting to be a little more frightened. Slow moving for most of the book, but a nice character study and a bleak O. Henry-ish twist at the end.

Here's a tip - don't start reading this late at night when you have to get up early the next morning and it's dark and rainy out - and you're home alone. I'm not easily spooked but this is truly creepy. And awesome.

MyBookLife I haven't read this yet. Really should! Are his books a series or stand alones? 8y
