Unbridled Spirits
Unbridled Spirits: Women of the English Revolution, 1640-1660 | Stevie Davies
4 posts | 1 read | 5 to read
Unbridled Spirits is a vibrant and authoritative study of the women of the 17th century, women who found the means to speak out and demand change at a time when a woman could be publicly humiliated, bridled and tortured for scolding her husband.

Mehso-so

Not narrative nonfiction, so parts are a little dry, but an interesting examination of several women during the English Revolution who were not silent. Cursed, tortured, raped, and a few executed, these women were considered thorns in the sides of men in power. Most had a religious slant to their words, preaching of the end of the world or continuously singing the praises of God. My “U” for #LitsyAtoZ

#Zeke cuddled with me earlier. #catsoflitsy

I have been incredibly busy the last few days - translation, very little time to read! Trying to remedy that with a few pages of this tonight as I catch up on some laundry.
