Flor and Miranda Steal the Show
Flor and Miranda Steal the Show | Jennifer Torres
3 posts | 1 read
Enjoy carnival rides and deep fried pickles in this warm, funny middle grade novel about family and friendship. Miranda is the lead singer in her family's musical band, Miranda y Los Reyes. Her family has worked hard performing at festivals and quinceaeras. Now, they have a shot at the main stage. How will Miranda make it a performance to remember? Flor's family runs the petting zoo at Mr. Barsetti's carnival. When she accidentally overhears Mr. Barsetti and Miranda's dad talk about cutting the zoo to accommodate Miranda y Los Reyes's main stage salary, she knows she has to take action. Will she have the heart for sabotage once she and Miranda actually start to become friends?

Part 2 of #bookhaul is all from the giveaway today. Kiddo picked some, I encouraged/picked others. I‘ve been wanting to read The Parker Inheritance and meaning to get to Tuck. Kiddo is very interested in female scientists so the YRE of Hidden Figures seemed like a good choice.

BookNAround I adore Tuck Everlasting. We read it with my book club several years ago and I was worried it wouldn‘t hold up to my memory but it 100% did. 4y
Clare-Dragonfly Oh yes, Tuck Everlasting is wonderful! 4y

Another super cute contemporary fiction that reads just like a Disney Channel movie (in the best way!). Great for animal lovers and your 4H kids, too. ❤️ Jennifer Torres!! #reversereadathon #weneeddiversebooks #wndb #kidlit #howiereads

I feel like compressed timelines are more common in YA than in middle grade but Jennifer Torres uses the device really effectively in this new one, out in June.
