Eve

From the author of the twenty-two-million-copy bestseller "The Shack" comes a captivating new novel destined to be one of the most talked-about books of the decade. "Eve" is a bold, unprecedented exploration of the Creation narrative, true to the original texts and centuries of scholarship--yet with breathtaking discoveries that challenge traditional beliefs about who we are and how we're made. "Eve" opens a refreshing conversation about the equality of men and women within the context of our beginnings, helping us see each other as our Creator does--complete, unique, and not constrained by cultural rules or limitations. When a shipping container washes ashore on an island between our world and the next, John the Collector finds a young woman inside--broken, frozen, and barely alive. With the aid of Healers and Scholars, John oversees her recovery and soon discovers that her genetic code connects her to every known race. No one would guess what her survival will mean... No one but Eve, Mother of the Living, who calls her "daughter" and invites her to witness the truth about her own story--indeed, the truth about us all. As "The Shack" awakened readers to a personal, non-religious understanding of God, "Eve" will free us from faulty interpretations that have corrupted human relationships since the Garden of Eden. Thoroughly researched and exquisitely written, "Eve" is a masterpiece that will inspire readers for generations to come.

Bailedbailed

Oh goodness. This book is wild and not in a good way. The writing is awful and full of incomplete sentences. The writing jumps back and forth and is unclear. Above all the theology in this book is off and I think it would be confusing for a non Christian who is trying to learn about the faith-in my opinion it doesn't shine a good light on it.

Pickpick

It's been a while since I've read a book that's stayed on my mind long after finishing it, but I believe Eve just changed that... I have so many questions. It was a difficult read, much like The Shack; every chapter challenged what I believed to be true about Creation, about God, and about free will.

He glanced at her and barely smiled. “It seemed the safer road."

"Believe me"-she laughed again-"roads are rarely what they appear to be and are not predictable. Maybe safe is about the company you keep and not about the road you take.”

#LyricalApril Day 3 - #paradise
How about the Garden of Eden?

Cinfhen I'd say that counts as paradise! 😊😍have you read this book? I found it very odd, I ultimately bailed 😬 7y
underthebelljar @Cinfhen I haven't yet. I found it cheap at Goodwill so if it turns out disappointing it won't be a big loss. 😆 7y
Cinfhen If & when you get to this book, tag me with your review...I'm curious if I "missed" something? 7y
underthebelljar @Cinfhen Will do! 😊 7y

#libraryhaul I was going to pick up We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves from hold and came back with these other 2 too. I also got some nachos and a 2 liter of 7 Up too. It's about to rain. There is some good cool air coming in through the window. Now if my boyfriend texts me back, it will have been a great afternoon 👍😎😊❤️📚💦lol, Stormy is going to great lengths to get at my nachos 😾😸😻

intothehallofbooks I'm so curious about Eve! I can't wait to see what you think. 8y
Mimi28 Thanks @intothehallofbooks 😎 I'll move it up on my list. I kinda wanted to knock my graphic novels due back at the library this weekend. I'll be reading it by Monday or Tuesday 📚👍❤️ 8y

This was a profound quote from me because it sums up so beautifully the freedom we have to turn away from God's love! Wm. Paul Young really did an amazing job with this book!
