I love this @TieDyeDude !! I actually just signed up for a blood drive at my work happening on July 16. So I‘ll be participating early. I am using this donation to determine if I can be a candidate to donate platelets in the future. This time of year is when shortages tend to happen. Please donate if you can! #LitsyBloodDrive
Been decluttering preparing to move and I came across this coloring book from when my kid was in his Peppa era. Don‘t come for my poor coloring skills lol but I couldn‘t help but wonder what “book with a blue cover” mummy pig is reading and when might the title slip her mind? 🤔
It‘s a somber day for the US, but especially for the Texas Hill Country. San Antonio (where I live) recently experienced a flood related tragedy. Seeing it happen again so soon is heart wrenching. 💔
July #BookSpinBingo 🎆
Surprised that the BookSpin pull was an actual book since my list this month is mostly free spaces. Going to try for a blackout because I‘d like to stay far away from doomscrolling the rest of the month. I‘ve seen enough 🫣🔥
The ethereal look of this cover is what initially drew me in to want to try this book. A lot of the details are left intentionally ambiguous and the art does a lot of the storytelling, allowing for reader interpretation.
This is a book that will make you want to start again as soon as you finish to see what you might have missed the first time around. This would be a great book to prompt discussions and the artwork is chillingly beautiful. #ARC
June reading wrap up and first #bookspinbingo of the year!! 🙌 Favorite reads were Fahrenheit 182, We Could Be Rats, and Trumpets of Death which was an ARC I received that comes out in August. I still need to get a proper review out, but it‘s a graphic novel to watch out for! 🍄
This book has been on my shelf forever. It was a so so read for me. As the title suggests there is a lot of killing in this book. The main character it a hitman who unwittingly is called to do a job outside of protocol and chaos ensues. Ended up being a read AND donate. I dropped it off at a little free library near me and swapped it for this Encyclopedia Brown book. #ReadOrDonate #EBBR #ISpyBingo
#SundayFunday
I recommend this one a lot. It‘s existential and heartwarming. One of the most wholesome books ever. Will stay with you for a long time. 👽 🦔 🐌 🥹
July #BookSpin is pretty much going to be a FREE for all. I rolled over unused free spaces from the beginning of the year to July. I‘ll do the same in December. No freebies left behind!! Trying for some #ChristmasInJuly shenanigans as well. I found some holiday kindle books on the recent Stuff Your Kindle Day so those are on my #ReadYourKindle list for July too. 🎄☀️
Immediately thought of Vlad from The Bromance Bookclub especially with Teddy narrating 😂
Picture it, the SAPL 4:42. I‘m minding my business picking up my Firestarter adaptation hold 🍿 and then whamo I see this beauty and couldn‘t just leave her there. I really hope it‘s good 😄 🔪 🍰
I‘ve been decluttering / organizing and finding this bookmark in this book cracked me up so much 😆
First time getting a skip the line notification from Libby. This was on my #AuldLangSpine list and I have had it on hold since January. Yes, January. I realize I could have started it anytime via KU but Troy Duran is worth the wait 😍 🎧
This book is kind of pissing me off because it made me remember how I waited for hours outside in the cold for a ticket to the Blink 182 Pop disaster tour with Green Day (2002) only to be prompted by youth group guilt to give it away 😒. See also exhibit B: proximity of my Enema of the State and Good Charlotte self-titled albums to my Brio Girl novel 🤣
#IcedTea #JuneSpecials I‘m suddenly parched reading this line 😂
So I ran out of cookies and I realized I hadn‘t put my review up here! Book 2 of the Sweet and Stocky series finds Havelock “Locky” Sorensen unexpectedly let go from his accounting job with well padded redundancy payout. His roommate Kai lovingly strong-arms him to take a risk and pursue his dream to open a night time bakery. Kai connects Locky to small business project manager Benedict Owens to get started. ⬇️
I initially got this to try listening with my son to see how he‘d do with an audiobook that didn‘t accompany a shorter picture book. It didn‘t hold his interest beyond the first chapter (but I think it would have been different if Libby had a whispersync feature like Kindle/Audible does). Normally I would DNF a book I intended to read with him when he loses interest, but I thought the sound effects were really cool and kept going with it. ⬇️
When the stars align and your ebook is ready at the same time as your audiobook. 🩷🩶
⭐️⭐️⭐️ June‘s #DoubleSpin
Leah‘s daughter returns home after being gone for 5 years living on a cultish commune with her batshit father.
I think this book‘s WTF-am-I-reading-page-turn-ability helps to gloss over some of the flaws of this book. Ex: The daughter in this book reads like a 13 year old during a time where she is written to be 18, plotholes, flat writing at times, etc.
#ReadYourKindle #LetterF #LitsyAtoZ 7 prompts for #ISpyBingo
Perfectly reasonable reaction to the loss of good oatmeal cookies and you know death 😅
This is probably going to be a repeater for today‘s prompt, but it was literally on my desk so least effort on my part 😄 #RockyRoad #JuneSpecials
If nonfiction counts, I‘m currently about a third of the way through Hannah Gadsby‘s “memoir situation”. #SundayFunday
I haven‘t exactly been following through on #ReadOrDonate this year so I am going to let June be a mulligan and will finally make it out to my Little Free Library if I still don‘t finish these by the end of the month. Also I did not intentionally make the last 3 titles spell out WTF, but wtf 😂
June #BookSpin and #ReadYourKindle lists. I will try to post in real time this month so I don‘t utterly clog the feed with catchups.
I‘m not sure how this one ended up on my Libby holds list since it‘s not going to be on the #losersclub schedule anytime soon but instead of delivering later yet again I was like ok let‘s read her! I know this was meant to be scrapped but I loved it so much and I can‘t get the story out of my mind. I‘m catching up on the adaptations too. As you can see, it‘s very meme-able. 😅 ⬇️
April‘s #losersclub pick but read in May. It was physically exhausting getting through this one as someone who struggles with daytime drowsiness reading about how tired all these guys were. Which maybe made it a more immersive experience? 😂 I did find the 4mph rule distracting since I was listening to the audio. Holding a conversation is taxing at 3mph let alone 4 so I had to suspend disbelief in that aspect. ⬇️
Tale as old as time.
Found all of May‘s #WickedWords in the tagged book. Will be adding a review later today, as I am going to attempt to bake cookies similar to the ones mentioned in the book first because I‘m nothing if not a sucker for food mentions in books I am reading! Also no context on that last quote until Litsy creates an 18+ button similar to the spoiler button for posts because.. yeah 🌶️😅
This was my #TBRTarot Reader‘s Choice prompt for May - a book “delivered later” more than 3 times. I delivered this one later 13 times.. I originally meant to read it in January. 🙃 I love hearing him talk about food and the relatable struggle with picky eaters. Also there are some delightfully unhinged remarks about his wife which if you don‘t know his humor might be concerning to some readers. 😂
So close to getting 2 bingos it hurts. Completed this month‘s #DoubleSpin in the actual month it what chosen, so that‘s a win. ⭐️ I was expecting it to just be a joke book and the jokes are funny. I think my favorite line was “I am a Virgo. If you hadn‘t suspected that on some level, That‘s on you. Who publishes a list of insults? That‘s Virgo shit.” 😄 ⬇️
