A Boy, a Mouse, and a Spider is a tender and poetic biography of E. B. White, the beloved author of Charlotte‘s Web. Barbara Herkert‘s lyrical text beautifully captures White‘s quiet nature and deep connection to the natural world, which inspired his timeless stories. Lauren Castillo‘s soft and evocative illustrations perfectly complement the narrative, adding warmth and charm to this homage.

#AcrossApril Day 2: #ChildrensBookDay reminded me of this picturebook bio of famous children‘s book author EB White. It is clear that being in a space where he could “hear the wind” contributed greatly to his creativity, provided the inspiration that allowed his voice to come through in the pages, along with his love for stillness and spiders and the sunrise. I shared a review of Fats of this book previously, here is mine: https://wp.me/pDlzr-lFO

#LilithJuly Day 16: A boy, a mouse, and a spider played #FoolishGames that eventually turned into beloved children‘s classics Stuart Little and Charlotte‘s Web. From Fats‘ review: “Herkert and Castillo perfectly captured how E.B. White‘s experiences shaped his personality and influenced the stories he would later tell. This book is great to read with younger kids because of its length and scarce use of words.” https://wp.me/pDlzr-i44

This was a really gentle story about a very gentle man - an imaginative writing genius who brought us Charlotte and Wilbur and Stuart, stories that are still being read and loved after 60+ years! I love picture book biographies for kids. #picturebook #picturebookbiography

4⭐️ This was a darling look at the man behind three beloved children‘s classics. E.B. White was a sickly little boy, who loved to put pen to paper. He loved to tell stories and write them. This is a lovely beginning biography about a much beloved author.
