Since I have been reading The Poisonwood Bible I have been doing some history research alongside the story because I‘m a nerd like that. And it led me to research the Death March of Bataan where I watched a few interviews of survivors and found this must read book written about it by one of the survivors himself!!! Oh I must have this!!! Has anyone read this or been interested in this topic?

Quirkybookworm I‘m the same way too! 6y
dsfisher I had my book signed a few years back by the author. I knew about the horror of the Death March. Thought his book was excellent. 6y
Erinsuereads I haven't read the one you posted, but this book is phenomenal 6y

MommyWantsToReadHerBook I'm not 100% sure I knew about this, so thanks. I'm just trying to remember how Poisonwood got you to the Death March 😊 6y
BookaholicNatty @MommyWantsToReadHerBook just in case you wanted to know... 😂 the father was in the war and his unit all got killed in the Death March and that‘s what made him turn into the horrible man he was to his wife and the daughters. The wife tells the story in the introduction to the third book in 6y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook @BookaholicNatty I'd completely forgotten that, thank you! 6y
Amandajoy I haven‘t read this one but I‘ll second Ghost Soldiers as an excellent read. Also, this one is about the nurses on Bataan & it‘s very good 6y
BookaholicNatty @ErinSueG and @Amandajoy thank you thank you for the two awesome book recommendations. I have a feeling when I get done my Postal book club that I am going to read both of them! We Band of Angels will especially mean a lot to me since I am in nursing school! Thank you both!!! ❤️❤️😘😘 6y

The Colonel was doing a book signing at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. We had stopped in Mobile for the night and walked over, chatted and bought his book. Well written.

rustoryhuf Was he a POW? 6y
dsfisher @rustoryhuf Yes, he suffered the Bataan Death March and more than 3 years as a POW. 6y
rustoryhuf @dsfisher we have a POW collection at my library. I‘ll need to order this if we don‘t have it. Thanks for sharing. 6y
