A Red Death
A Red Death | Walter Mosley
5 posts | 14 read | 8 to read
'It has come to my attention, sir, that between August 1948 and September of 1952 you came into possession of at least three real estate properties.? 'I have reviewed your tax records back to 1945 and you show no large income, in any year. This would suggest that you could not legally afford such expenditures...' When an income tax officer makes him an offer he can't refuse, Easy Rawlins is forced out of retirement and into the infiltration of his local church, the First African Baptist, and the surveillance of local radicals. Murderers strike and he becomes the prime suspect of the Los Angeles Police Department, who lose no sleep over the fate of 'freelance' private eyes.

Book 2 in the Easy Rawlins series is a good follow-up to Devil in a Blue Dress. Easy is an interesting character and you can‘t help but root for him. This is one of those compelling, fast reads that are hard to put down. I‘m looking forward to book 3! 4⭐️

Mosley does such a good job creating a sense of time and place on this series. This is my second Easy Rawlins mystery by him, looking forward to the next. #mounttbrreadathon

everlocalwest I loved Devil in a Blue Dress but never went further; good to know they maintain. I'll have to try more in the series. 6y

This is the second book in the Easy Rawlins series. I‘m loving it and can‘t wait to start number 3. Have you read this series? What do you think of it?

Tamra No, but I saw one of them at a bookstore this past weekend and was curious. (edited) 6y

A little red wine with A Red Death. Not a bad Saturday night if I do say so myself 🍷. Who else is obsessed with the Easy Rawlins series? 🙋🏼
