I liked this. There are a few themes going on here, beauty being the main one, both Terra‘s face and her art, but also the (emotional/verbal) abuse she and her mother (and brothers, until they left home) face from her father. Cartography is big in the book, and there is a trip to China. This was more than your usual lighthearted YA romance book; it felt a bit weightier. Cont in comments...
I wasn‘t expecting much depth from this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. It touches on issues of verbal abuse, body image, adoption, and more. Not a perfect book, but an engaging one.
“Twenty-Four hours into the trip, I‘d pretty much determined that traveling was all about waiting.”
“Flawed, we‘re truly interesting, truly memorable, and yes, truly beautiful.”
"That's when it struck me: how gorgeous we all were, even with cellulite (saw a lot of that) and stretch marks, scars and tattoos. Let me just say this, not single body was perfect, not even the fittest of women there."
“Getting lost is just another way of saying 'going exploring.'" #lost
I may post a few tonight to get caught up.

I enjoyed this YA book about a girl with a port wine stain birthmark, a mean father, a boyfriend who isn‘t the one, and a very uncertain future.
My current book is depressing so I needed something happy to read and my school's librarian gave this to me. She's the best! Hope this is a good one!
I had a harder time then I thought I would with this tag. I have a few books with north, but no other directions. #compasspoints #jubilantjuly
Beauty—real everlasting beauty—lives not on our faces, but in our attitude and our actions. It lives in what we do for ourselves and for others.

Getting lost is just another way of saying 'going exploring.'
Forgiving others is easier when I remember that I'm human and stupid, too.
