I'm trying to start this new book, but I'm having a difficult time focusing. While most people are fleeing the south my dad is currently on a plane to Florida to be with my elderly grandpa. Be safe everyone. #hurricane

Debiw781 Where at in Florida? I'm in Central Florida. Prayers and positive thoughts for them both 7y
GondorGirl @Debiw781 Just outside of Orlando. 7y
Debiw781 I'm not far from Orlando in Winter Haven. 7y
GondorGirl @Debiw781 They're in Castlebury. You stay safe! 7y
Debiw781 They're further away then, which is good. I will and please tell them to do the same! 7y

I did truly enjoy this book. More than a few of the essays really resonated with me and a couple of my fave authors contributed. I just have one problem. The further I got into this book the more aware I was that just about all the authors were white. Each section was different and included stuff like superheroes and gender and issues likes trauma, but no superheroes and race. I would have loved reading some about that

This was one of those books that caught my eye as I was perusing my library's selection of graphic novels. Neil Gaiman's name, of course, grabbed my attention and then seeing the other authors included I knew I had to check this out. Brad Meltzer's Identity Crisis is a great graphic novel itself and I'm excited to see what he has to say about superheroes.

I would have hoped for a little more analysis of comic books and their influence, and a little less personal reflection. In many essays, the superhero theme was completely tacked on. Still, a pleasant enough read

Great collection of shorts about why people have a connection to superheroes. 👍🏽👊🏼💪🏿👓🕷🏋🏼‍♀️
Neil Gaiman and Delilah Dawson were my two favorites.

(The book is down my list of reads for this year. Forgot to add it as a pick before now. Also,I slayed my reading goal this year! Our fantastic library here really helped fuel my reading 🔥 📚📙📚📘📚📗)

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Wow! You're way ahead of me! 125 is my goal for this whole year! Congratulations! 🎉🎉 8y
josie281 Thanks! I set my goal mid level this year. I snuck in audiobooks a lot and it helped my numbers! 8y

I really enjoyed this. Some awesome people tell you about how much their favourite superheroes meant to them. Everything from love, death, being yourself, and lots more. (This photo is also live from Service Ontario while I wait to renew my driver's license).
