This was the Modern Mrs Darcy book club pick for January. I‘m giving it a pick because it was cute and I stayed interested in the main character. I also liked that there were real issues in the book, like the fact that an inheritance might bring its own set of problems. The setting is the kind of small town that only exists on Gilmore Girls. I grew up in a small town, and it wasn‘t like this at all! It‘s nice to imagine though.

Cozy feel good book about two sisters who‘ve taken very different paths centered in a small Vermont town. Fairly predictable but I think I needed the peace and quiet and predictability of a book about small town life. And now I want a piece of burnt sugar maple cake!

I‘m enjoying this sweet little novel about a small town in Vermont and two polar opposite sisters, one of whom is an artistic risk taker who has traveled widely and the other who has been the family caretaker and has developed deep ties to their hometown. And I‘m almost always impressed when a novelist can work in a Rumi quote.

Cute but pretty predictable romantic tale.

Last book of 2020 for me and it was a sweet story.

I‘m not sure where this title fits in with the story, but I LOVE this book. The characters are very relatable, and I enjoyed the little town too. I would love to revisit these people and this place again.

5☆ The cover has nothing to do with the story so I'm glad a friend told me Louise Miller had a new title out. Just like in 'The City Baker's Guide To County Living' it feels the Gilmore Girls' Stars Hallow, unique festivals, secrets, coming together. Sigh, so good. Gonna go make Burnt Sugar Cake with Maple Frosting now. Yum!

My twin boys graduated high school yesterday. I am beyond exhausted, as well as proud. Today I am curling up and reading and no one can stop me. 🤓

What's the best way to wait while my truck gets worked on? Read, journal, and sip tea, of course. 🤓

I couldn‘t help but think of Gilmore Girls MULTIPLE times while reading this- and for me, that works! 😊 It has quirky characters, a small town, a love interest, a dog, and a happy ending. The comfort food of books.

I had read too many books in a row that left me feeling run over by a truck. Decided to hunt down this book because she has become my comfort author. The author is a pastry chef in Boston who knows my neck of the Vermont woods very well. She knows about the value that each person contributes to a small town and writes of it in a way that‘s not too syrupy sweet. Both Vermont and kindness are major players in this book. It was a breath of fresh air.

And unexpectedly wonderful "feel good" book! arriving at this point in her life almost without any pre-planning or thought, just life evolving an aura was along for the ride. Nora seems content with where she is at and what she is doing. It's not until everything is shaken up and turned upside down, and Nora is given the choice to make a change, to reinvent herself, that she realizes that what she really wants most is what she already had. ?

Such a cozy read, excellent for the season. (But I wish I had a diner nearby!)

It‘s a nice enough story. I was just a bit bored with it. I didn‘t really get into it.
