Empire of the Moghul: Raiders From the North
Empire of the Moghul: Raiders From the North: Raiders From the North | Alex Rutherford
5 posts | 6 read | 2 reading | 2 to read
The first book in the Empire of the Moghul series: chronicling the rise and fall of the Moghul rulers of India, beginning with Babur who swept in from Central Asia to found one of the most powerful dynasties in history. 1494, and the new ruler of Ferghana, twelve-year-old Babur, faces a seemingly impossible challenge. Babur is determined to equal his great ancestor, Tamburlaine, whose conquests stretched from Delhi to the Mediterranean, from wealthy Persia to the wild Volga. But he is dangerously young to inherit a crown and treasonous plots, tribal rivalries, rampaging armies and ruthlessly ambitious enemies will threaten his destiny, his kingdom, even his survival.

I have always been fascinated (read obsessed😁) by the Mughal Empire of ancient India. And the moment I came to know that there's an exclusive series covering their reign, I just had to read it. Follows the journey of Babur, the first ruler of the Mughal Empire and how he came to establish it. Watch 'the empire' online to see the characters come to life. This is a friend's copy and I decided to continue the series after I get my own set.
5/5🌟

Parvez Stacked, Also have Indu Sundaresan books on my TBR. Always been fascinated with Mughal Dynasty. You should also check out Madhulika Liddle. 12mo

The book is a gripping read about the advent of the Mughal Empire in India.
With Babur As His Protagonist, Rutherford uses History and merges it with his imagination to turn this into a royal epic. Helping us to understand a Ruler, burdened by the lofty heights of the achievements of his predecessors.
Babur's struggle to achieve what he liked to believe as his destiny and the effect this had on his relationships is a truly exhilarating read

DGRachel That looks really interesting! 6y
Tiyas7 @DGRachel It Really Is!! This is actually the first installment in the series. There are six books in total , each focusing on a single Mughal Emperor in a chronological order!! 6y
DGRachel I love good, epic historical fiction. I will have to get my hands on this soon. 😊 6y
Tiyas7 @DGRachel Hope You Enjoy It !!☺ 6y
