Harvey provides good recommendations for engaging young(er) white children in conversations about race and racism. Definitely some components to incorporate into talks with the kiddos. Likely most useful/relatable with younger kids, 10 and under.

I liked a lot of the points in this book- treat discussing race like any other developmental aspect of your children and engage with them early and often. Harvey provides anecdotes from her life, but my children and students are much older than hers and her suggestions for tweens and teens were sparse. Little meandering but good message.

My #botm box and my Barnes and Noble order arrived the same day!! Where to start? I guess I'm not going to get anything done on my house today! 😁

This book was a conversation starter. People were certain it was racist for wildly different reasons but it allowed me to talk to people about racism.

‘Being committed to equity and justice in a society that is not only racially unjust and deeply segregated, but which privileges your race at the same time, creates conundrums for white people.‘
