Love And Friendship And Other Early Works (Love And Freindship)
Love And Friendship And Other Early Works (Love And Freindship) | Jane Austen
2 posts | 2 read
Jane Austen's Early Works are now a major film! She was nothing more than a mere good-tempered, civil and obliging Young Woman; as such we could scarcely dislike her -- she was only an Object of Contempt. - Jane Austen, Love and Freindship Love and Freindship and Other Early Works is a collection of short epistolary stories initially meant to amuse Jane Austens family. Austen wrote these stories at the age of 14 and 15 and read them aloud to her family. All the epistolary stories are satirical mocking the 18th-century English society from the mushy love novels to the former kings and queens of England.

Bookmail! Chiltern doesn't have these two, (yet?) so I ordered the Cranford Collection versions. Both were published after her death. I think they are also unfinished, but don't quote me on that. Possibly just the stories in the Lady Susan book.

Pickpick

This is a collection of some of Jane‘s early works, including a number of epistolary excerpts and a juvenile history of England.

Oh, did I laugh and laugh. There is so much joy and fun in these works.

Thanks again for the opportunity to read this, #SerialReader .

tpixie Oh! I‘ve never heard of this!! @sammisho 7y
Libby1 @tpixie and @sammisho - it‘s a fairly quick read on Serial Reader. I enjoyed it more than some of her novels, but don‘t tell the Austenites or I might be subjected to some serious silent judging. 😂 7y
