Finally Marcus gets his bride. This book really pulled me in. Stayed up late to finish.

After marathoning some epic reads I needed something quick and light to change things up. I picked this up at the library bookstore where I volunteer for a quarter. The premise intrigued me and it did what I needed it to do but it wasn‘t anything amazing. It had humor and fit the traditional framework of the genre.
The heroine felt flat to me - though she is saved from a bride auction by the duke-in-disguise hero, she somehow remains uninteresting and doesn‘t develop much in terms of personality or character over the novel. The duke is more dynamic but still pretty close to a stock character.
The duke of autenberry wakes up in a small Scottish town on auction day, he tries to save the scared young woman on the auction block only to discover that he‘s bought himself a wife. The traveling together and having to share a bed trope doesn‘t usually do much for me but this was really good! halfway through I realized this was the 3rd book in the series but I quickly ordered the other 2. I‘m definitely a Sophie Jordan fan now☺️👍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Thank you Tattered Cover for hosting the Romance and Rose party! Meeting Sophie Jordan was definitely a highlight!! I can't wait to start her book!
