"Wonderfully unique and imaginative. I was enthralled!"--JEANIENE FROST, New York Times bestselling author, for The Last WolfCan a human truly make room in her heart for the Wild?Thea Villalobos has long since given up trying to be what others expect of her. So in Elijah Sorensson she can see through the man of the world to a man who is passionate to the point of heartbreak. But something inside him is dying...Elijah Sorensson has all kinds of outward success: bespoke suits, designer New York City apartment, women clamoring for his attention. Except Elijah despises the human life he's forced to endure. He's Alpha of his generation of the Great North Pack, and the wolf inside him will no longer be restrained...She sizes me up quickly with eyes the color of ironwood and just as unyielding. "Thea Villalobos," she says, and it takes me a moment to get my breath back. Thea Villalobos. I know, I know -- I rated book one in this trilogy only so-so, and then I went out and bought book two.

I did like this one better (it focused on a different pairing), and I did also skip vast swaths of sex. And I will probably get the next book, and then I will take a drink when Silver becomes the next law-speaker who exists outside of pack hierarchy.

The second in the series is better still. Original plot, lots of action. Good use of humor. A diverse set of characters (yay!). Lots to love here, looking forward to the next book. One quibble: I prefer consistency in magical rules, there seems to be some inconsistency in that children are never permanently changed to wolf if caught in wolf form under an ‘iron moon‘, just adults. But at what point does a kid become an adult?

I cannot get enough of this series! I thought the first book, The Last Wolf was fantastic with its original world building and quite intense characters and unique plot but Wolf Apart takes it on another level. Elijah‘s loneliness for his home and pack and his inevitable isolation just leaps of the pages. There is an overarching plot but each book can be read as a standalone. Next book please!
