"[A] fantasy romance in the vein of books by Sabaa Tahir, Renee Ahdieh." - School Library Journal on Reign the Earth The sweeping Elementae series continues with a heroine so powerful she can command the sky . . . Stolen from her family as a child, Aspasia has clawed her way up the ranks of Cyrus's black market empire to captain her own trading vessel--and she risks it all every time she uses her powerful magic to free as many women, children, and Elementae from slavery as she can. But Cyrus is close to uncovering her secrets--not only that Aspasia is a wind Elementa with the ability to sail her ship through the sky, but that she is also searching for her lost family. And if Aspasia can't find her younger siblings before Cyrus does, she will never be able to break free. Armed with her loyal crew full of Elementae and a new recruit who controls an intriguing power, Aspasia finds herself in the center of a brewing war that spans every inch of the ocean, and her power alone may not be enough to save her friends, family, and freedom.

Because you are hope, I whispered, the same way I am chaos. We are all the dark places in the world, and we still stand up. We still fight.

Where to start with how much I loved this book! Unlike the first book in the series where Shalia learns of hers, Aspasia is master of her power over the air. Nothing can stop her as she flies her ship over the ocean. It didn‘t take up any major pieces of the story, but I liked how that one crew member basically obsessed over Asp, no matter being told no, was handled. Previous book characters are mentioned, but they don‘t take away from Asp‘s story

“Did you break his heart?” I looked down, “he thinks I did. It wasn‘t that different from us, you know -we were friends for the longest time and then something happened. Unlike you, he just thought that it meant everything.” Her nose wrinkled. “It means nothing until you both agree it means something... that want fair of him.”

Oh My Gosh Aspasia. What a way to teach a desert born how to swim in the open ocean. Still really love the slow build up of Aspasia and other pirate and those elementae. There are so many different characters

The book already surpasses the Bechdel test. Amazing diverse ladies running their worlds here. Aspasia is such a complex character. Her control over her air elementae (pretty close to Airbending) and how she views herself as a fierce pirate trader. Loved the first book, so I‘m interested with how much this is a sequel to the same story, or another view in the same world. Since the bad group trying to experiment on elementae are still here

Such a great series! We get some new characters but merge with the previous toward the end. Really enjoyed it! 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
