TW: mental illness, suicide, animal abuse
T. Lily Decker lives in fear of developing schizophrenia, a mental illness that runs in her family. An internship at a newspaper brings her to a local zoo where she bonds with a baby elephant she nicknames Swifty. When the mother elephant rejects Swifty, Lily ends up on an adventure that will change her life.
Save it for when you need a good cry, because it‘s a five alarm snot-bomb.
Decent teen fiction about Lily, an 18 year old girl concerned about her potential future with mental illness, and her efforts to save a baby elephant. My only wish is that they would have left the romantic side story out -- didn't need it at all. #24in48
This book was great. I didn't expect to like it so much! It was beautiful but heartbreaking. I'm not much of a contemporary reader but I Love elephants, and like the main character, my mom is schizophrenic. Certain parts hit closer to home than I was prepared for.
ALSO including pictures of my daughter because tomorrow is her 14th birthday! 😊🎁♥️🎉🎈
My #shelfie is pretty pathetic for @bookriot 's #riotgrams, but here it is. I hate where my books are right now. 😩When we move, I promise it'll be better. 💔
