Overall I thought this was an interesting read that did make me think more about some of the apps. Also made me appreciate even more what an amazing community we have here on Litsy. It‘s so refreshing the vibe on here compared to things like Facebook and Twitter.

Some parts of this read a little dry but overall I learned a lot and it made me think.

This book was really interesting. I was one of those people who graduated with a lot of debt and it was interesting to truly understand how we as a nation got here. I learned a lot and it honestly makes me want to pay off my remaining debt even faster 😂 Seriously though, it was a fascinating read!

This book was just a so-so for me I think. I liked the characters and the story itself kept me interested, but there weren‘t any answers by the end. Not really. It felt more philosophical than anything and watching a town handle the epidemic of people falling asleep was so surreal given everything we‘ve experienced as a society with Covid.

Overall I think this was just an okay read for me. I liked it fine but wasn‘t really satisfied by the end

BarbaraBB Great review. I was underwhelmed by this one too. 1mo

So this was a different kind of drama/thriller than I‘m used to and I mean that in a good way. It had an interesting premise and I was definitely invested in the characters. Was it my favorite? No but it kept my attention and was an easy read.

Sorry for the terrible quality photo - I just saved one off google real quick. But I just finished listening to this one on audio. It was heartbreaking - as anything 9/11 is. I was fortunate to not personally know anyone who died that day but I make a point every year of reading/watching stuff about the day as I don‘t ever want to forget the people and what we went through as a country that day.

The premise behind this book was to teach about the body‘s circadian rhythm and how it impacts each part of your day(when you sleep, when/what you eat, etc). A lot of was eye opening and made sense. I‘m just not convinced every person needs the exact same schedule - going to bed by 10:30pm and waking by 6am. However I do love the idea of being consistent and listening to your body. So those are the ideas I‘ll really take away from this

This is kind of a low pick for me. I listened to it and the audio experience was just as enjoyable as with the other two. I think I liked the story more with this one than with Hidden Bodies but, as is typical, the first book was the best.

I love Joe‘s commentary about society/social norms and while there was some in this, not as much as You. By the end things spiraled into craziness but it was a fun read

I finished Tell the Wolves I‘m Home and just yesterday watched The Normal Heart. One doesn‘t really have anything to do with the other except the time/setting/certain circumstances.

Tell the Wolves I‘m Home is about a 14 year old girl who loses her uncle she loved dearly to AIDS and she ends up developing a relationship with his lover she‘d known nothing about. The Normal Heart is set in NYC in the early 80s at the start of the AIDS crisis.

⬇️

TheDaysGoBy Both were so compelling, and yes, unrelated but I was still so struck with the similarities I saw when watching The Normal Heart (which was acted beautifully). They were also both heart wrenching with themes of loss and grief. I loved the book - was engrossed in all the characters and just loved everything about it. So yes, I rec it but I also rec The Normal Heart. It pulled similar feelings/threads for me 5mo
Laughterhp Is that Mark Ruffalo and it looks like Matt Bomer but not sure. 5mo
TheDaysGoBy @Laughterhp Yep! You nailed on both accounts. I‘d had it on my list because I‘d recently watched White Collar and fell in love with Matt Bomer. And he and Mark Ruffalo were so great in that movie. Great eye on your part! 5mo

Laughterhp I‘ve never seen the movie but I used to be obsessed with Matt Bomer because of White Collar! 5mo
TheDaysGoBy @Laughterhp That‘s where I‘m living now - with an obsession for Matt Bomer 😂 I just thought he acted so great in White Collar…and obviously easy on the eyes 😉 I watched The Last Tycoon on Amazon Prime a few weeks ago where he played a Hollywood producer in the 40s and it was so good! 5mo

The authors sum up their experiences with living with a variety of self-help books for two weeks per book. It was interesting hearing some of their experiences/ideas on what was worth their time and what wasn‘t. If anything I think listening to them helps you to put the self-help advice into perspective. You can adapt it to fit your life or disregard it completely if it seems to do you more harm than good.
