I enjoyed the stories of the four women highlighted in this book that helped the war efforts on both sides - Union and Confederacy. A slower read but most nonfiction is for me. It was definitely interesting but I think I‘m ready for some fast paced fiction for my next read

I liked this one. For some reason though it wasn‘t my favorite and I‘m not sure why. I liked the characters. Maybe the story moved a bit slow at times? I feel like I usually devour stuff from this genre rather quickly and this one seemed to take longer. Can‘t put my finger on it exactly but this was just a like, not a love for me

Was this my favorite celeb memoir I‘ve read? No. I did enjoy it though. I never knew much about his addiction and rehab stints - even back when I was watching Friends just because I don‘t keep up with celeb gossip. I think the book could‘ve done with some editing or been laid out better as some parts felt repetitive, particularly with some of the interludes. Still thought it was interesting though

Finally finished this one up. I enjoyed it! In some ways I wonder if it would‘ve been better as an audiobook but it did give a very unique perspective on WWII. Not any kind of retelling of events/layout of what happened but rather oral accounts from various women who served in the military for Russia

Daisey I listened to the audiobook of this, and I think it emphasizes the oral history feel of the writing. Yet, I also found an ebook copy so I could easily check quotes and names as well. 2mo
TheDaysGoBy @Daisey Yeah that‘s probably the route I should‘ve taken. Still good though 2mo

@MaleficentBookDragon Thank you so much for everything! I feel like you spoiled me, and I know I was no help as far as picking out books go leaving it as wide open as I did 😂 Both books sound interesting and maybe not something I would‘ve picked up myself so I love that - I enjoy moving out of my usual genres more. Fallen in love with some surprises that way

Look at the bookmark I made myself to go with my next read. I‘ve only become a fan of Chris Evans in the last year but man what a time for it to happen.

It‘s a larger bookmark than I typically go for, but considering the eye candy involved, I‘ll live 😂

Read4life Love the bookmark. And Chris Evans 🤓💙 4mo
OriginalCyn620 I love Evans so much! He‘s the best, IMO! Love the bookmark. 4mo
TheDaysGoBy @Read4life Thanks! He‘s a hunk for sure, but also seems so human/down to earth. It was super easy to fall in love with him 4mo
TheDaysGoBy @OriginalCyn620 Thank you! I completely agree. I watched all the Marvel movies for the first time ever so my love kinda started there but I recognized by the end how amazing he‘d done as Captain America and evolving the character that I sought out his other stuff. Pretty much watched everything he‘s been in and he was a delight in each one. Such a good actor! 4mo

What an incredible story of survival of a man who would be one of the first (and only a handful of) Jews that escaped from Auschwitz. It‘s amazing how resilient he was and utterly heartbreaking what he had to go through - not just during his time there but after his escape as well. Well written and laid out well

So I definitely got spooked a bit with this book, but the way things pieces out and kind of jumped around was a little confusing at times. It was an interesting premise and like I said, did give me chills at time but I think ultimately it was the structure of the story that just made this a so-so for me

It was my #bookspin for September though so that‘s another off the list

EclecticBookLover For Civil War, I remember Batlle Cry of Freedom by McPherson was a good general history. Also This Republic of Suffering by Drew Gilpin Faust was also interesting. It focuses on death and the Civil War. Not a book, bit I highly recommend the History Channel's miniseries Grant, very well done. Ron Chernow has a book on Grant, but I haven't read it. 5mo

Some of my weekend watches. I‘m still as in love with Coco as I was the first time I watched it. Both of the Hocus Pocus movies were fine - I didn‘t get that much nostalgia out of the first one because I‘m certain I only saw parts of it growing up. Some of the jokes I thought were funnier in the sequel. Fun bit of lighthearted spooky watching though

2. Fantasy isn‘t my go-to genre so the only thing I can really think of is Harry Potter. Maybe How to Train Your Dragon - there‘s some magic/witch elements in that
