Coward: A Criminal Edition | Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips
8 posts | 13 read | 7 to read
Criminal is a series of knife-sharp, noir-tinged tales about the people who live on the wrong side of the law. In Coward, the first storyline, pickpocket Leo a man who always leaves himself a way out finds himself in over his head when he's dragged into a dangerous heist, and winds up getting too close to a burnt-out former junkie. Torn between his instinct to run and his emotions, can he stay out of harm's way? By award-winning writer Ed Brubaker (Gotham Central) and acclaimed artist Sean Phillips (Marvel Zombies), this gritty take on society's underbelly has been critically acclaimed and a commercial smash it'd be criminal to miss it!

Fast paced, gritty crime tale. You don‘t fall in love with any of the characters because you are not supposed to.

A man gets pulled into a heist involving police evidence by a man in his old crew who is now a cop. Things turn out differently than planned.

I‘m not sure how I feel about this one. It was just ok. If you‘ve read this, should I continue with the series?

Ed Brubaker is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. He knows how to tell a good crime story, and this is no different. I‘ve seen volumes of Criminal everywhere, so this stand-alone was a good place to start. It‘s real; it has feeling. Highly recommended if you want to try a quick Brubaker!

Graphic novels should be quick, but when you have 80+ to read, they can take some time! Working my way through the shelves! Up next!! #currentlyreading
