I have always loved Barbara Bradley Hagerty from her days at NPR. This book proves that there is life after midlife. We just have to dig in and enjoy.

This one tempted me because I was just a few years behind the author in high school. Or I might have been in 8th grade when she was in 12th grade. I remember her but can't say I knew her. But ... when I read the blurb and reviews, it didn't sound like the ideas were particularly new. So it becomes another of the #booksIalmostbought.
As I approach my 46th birthday, I am starting to realize that I may now be entering midlife. ?I remember watching 30 Something (tv show from the 80s) & thinking those people were so grown up. Even now, despite the fact that I am older than that, I still don't feel "grown up". I am very responsible and luckily am successful but I'm still not sure what I want to do when I grow up. So I grabbed this on Overdrive to see what my options are!
This was a book club pick or I would've bailed. If you are someone struggling with midlife, this book would call to you. It's filled with research and personal stories. I couldn't keep my mind from wandering.
The full title is The Science, Art, and Opportunity of Midlife. The book is well researched and offers an interesting perspective on this time of life. The three most important ways to enjoy midlife/aging, are 1. Engage in things that are important to you. 2. Choose purpose over happiness. 3. Your thinking is your experience.
Informative and encouraging book about middle age. Lots of good information backed by research. Very positive book about embracing and dealing with issues related to this time of life. Recommended for interested readers 40+.
Very thought provoking book about midlife. Lots of science, but Hagerty does a good job of making it understandable. I also liked the profiles of people that served as examples.
Yup. Yuppity yup yup. Midlife is hard, but exciting.
About halfway through this very interesting book. I'm learning a lot about the science of mid-life and it's giving me a lot of food for thought.
Excellent ideas for how to thrive in middle age and beyond.
