I read the first book in this series last year and found that my library had the audio book on Borrow Box and it makes it even better. You know why? I have three words for you Neil. Patrick. Harris. He read part of the audio book. Great middle grade book. 3/5 stars.

pickThe second in Neil Patrick Harris‘s MAGIC MISFITS SERIES focuses on Leila with Harris and co-writer Alec Adam doing a better job of integrating the backstory with the main mystery and mingling the genuine magic with illusions while maintaining a chatty narrative style. Kids should enjoy the magic trick suggestions and code games and Lissy Marlin and Kyle Hilton‘s illustrations have a fun anime quality to them that adds to the story.
These Magic Misfit stories are saving my commute with my 2 boys. I love them (my boys) but this week I'm grateful to not have to HEAR them (complaining, arguing, eye rolling...yup I can hear an eye roll -13 yr olds eye roll loudly) Lovely narration.
