Im trying to read more middle grade and this series sounded perfect. It did not disappoint. Strong world building, awesome characters you can root for, gripping plot line with high stakes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I loved characters, and I could relate to them. I also loved hilarious banter. I had so fun while reading :)

I don't know why but I have always liked when magic/fantasy mixes with a real world. Maybe it's easier to dive into the story?

It's always awesome when an adventurous book also gives you something to ponder.

Story was quite simple but action was mixed with fun banter, friendship and magical creatures.

I‘m not the target audience for this book which is a middle grade. I like middle grade books but I didn‘t enjoy this one as much as I would liked. The story was too long and confusing but this is an unpopular opinion. Most people like this series. I don‘t think I will continue with it. I liked Mini, so funny. This book I think is great to introduce children with Hindu mythology and folklore. 3⭐️

Wow. These are so good, and my nieces are about to have a wild adventure.

For any #riordan fans out there, these are similar, and explore the ideas and religious figures of Hindu. The main character is bright, sassy and imaginative in a way that I would have loved to see as a child. Shoot, I love to see it now.

It‘s very fast paced. It‘s fun. Full of a new mythology that I didn‘t know very much about. I enjoyed all the characters. Even Aru. Sometimes I found her annoying but for the most part she‘s likable.

I really wanted to love this book. Percy Jackson was my childhood, and I was so pumped to see another addition to Rick Riordan Presents written by Roshani Chokshi (I enjoyed Gilded Wolves). However, the story just dragged for some reason. The writing, plot, and characters were all great. I think it was the pacing that was the problem. Wondering if I should read the rest of the series…

Aru Sha and the End of Time was a good book. I liked the way it incorporated so many gods and still managed not to be confusing. I read another Indian mythology book series and I thought they were way better than this. 4/5

This is only 343 pages, and it‘s MG on top of that, but it still felt too long. Not surprising based on my experience w/the author‘s YA. Did enjoy this for the most part—Aru is a great character, it‘s quite funny, loved learning more about Indian mythology & seeing young girls be so brave & resourceful. But Chokshi often stretches what could‘ve been 2 pages into 10 or 12, so it took too long to get from scene to scene. But still a fun read. 3/5 ⭐️

Aru wanted nothing more than to get out of the Kingdom of Death. First of all, it stank. Second of all, she was starving. Third of all, she wouldn‘t even be able to brag about going there.

She may not have liked the books she‘d had to read for school, but she‘d loved the stories her mom had read aloud to her. Those tales had unlocked things that ordinary metal keys never could. A particularly good book had a way of opening new spaces in one‘s mind. It even invited you to come back later and rummage through what you‘d learned.

With increasing darkness comes answering light.

“Well, we must go to the Otherworld, of course. Not quite what it used to be. It dwindles with humanity‘s imagination, so I suspect it is currently the size of a closet. Or perhaps a shoe box.”

After the week I‘ve had, I‘m definitely in need of some middle grade escapism! 😣

My son read this at school and it sounded great so I read it so we could continue the series together. Aru and Mini go on a quest to stop the Sleeper from capturing and ending time. Both girls are Indian-American and the book tells the stories of Hindi gods and goddesses. It was fun read with a lot of adventure and humor. The characters were complex and it was nice to read a book with two heroines that is t marketed just to girls.

I enjoyed the tagged, a fun middle-grade adventure. I know little about Hindu mythology, so i enjoyed reading more about it. And like Mini, the author is also half Filipino and half Indian. I appreciate Rick Riordan using his name to publish stories from underrepresented cultures and backgrounds. 👏🏻

Finished this one on the porch last night. I think it absolutely accomplished what it set out to do: tell a Rick Riordan-style mythological story with modern Indian-American preteens. That sounds like a dig, but it‘s not: Chokshi nails the pop-culture-filled, action-focused, nuanced kid voice of Aru, and I can definitely hand this to a lot of kids at the library. It‘s just not my personal favorite kind of read. #middlegrade #kidlit

I liked this one.
I wasn't that into Percy Jackson or any of Chokshi's YA series but this one was interesting and funny. Seeing Aru and Mini interacting with and within Indian mythology was a treat.
I'm not in a rush to read the next book but I still want to eventually.

This book is so much fun! The humor is infectious and the story makes you want to learn more about the myths and legends.

The now 6-year-old, missed some of the “humor” and pop culture references (better for 8+ maybe), and I‘m sure I‘m butchering most of the names, but it‘s a fun read that gives a peek into Indian mythology. #MordecaiReads #morebookslessbullshit2019

I think I enjoyed this even more than the books Rick Riordan wrote! The best thing about this book is that it's HILARIOUS. I literally laughed out loud more than 5 times while reading. The adventure and the story are great, and I really liked most of the characters. The set up for the next book happened at the end of this one, so I will be getting my hands on a copy of the second one soon!

But what she did have was imagination. Aru had been daydreaming her whole life. Every weekend, while she waited for her mom to come home she would concoct a story: her mother was a spy, an ousted princess, a sorceress.

Just finished! I loved this. Who knew how amazing and expansive Hindu mythology is?
I may or may not have ordered a book about it (pssssst...... I totally did 😂).

Over a hundred pages in and really enjoying this book so far! 😍 Definitely a good one if you want to laugh!

Once I got into the swing of things and found Aru Shah and The End of Time to be funny with well timed quips, contemporary, and fun while tackling aspects of growing pains, secrets, and the consequences of lying.

A solid 3 ⭐ read.

It took a long time to read this, but that is not an indication of my enjoyment, just how busy I have been!

Aru Shah is a middle grade fantasy inspired by Hindu mythology. I love that Rick Riordan is supporting diverse authors to write #OwnVoices books rather than taking on mythology retellings from other cultures himself. I definitely need to read more of Roshani Choksi‘s books, I love her writing style!

This is also a new fave series for Maya.

Unfortunately, Maya got sick last night, whether from a virus, something she ate, or just too much junk food we don‘t know. She seems fine now. I have emetophobia (phobia of vomiting) and it used to be so bad that I took anti-anxiety meds because of it. Trying to get out of my head this morning. ☹️

This is turning out to be a great selection for my #motherdaughterbookclub with Maya! I‘m finding some great things to talk about with her.
