This was up and down for me. A couple of the stories were good, festive and thoughtful, quiet and heartwarming. More were sad, dark and showed a starker side of humanity. And there was one that was so horrid and racist I couldn‘t finish it. Maybe some were perfectly French, but not for me. A nice collection of stories that made me reflect on the true spirit of Christmas. I wasn‘t familiar with any of the stories, but a few authors such as Guy de Maupassant and Anatole France. Quite a few stories date from the late 19th century, but they all felt relevant. Not all of the stories are holly jolly in mood, but I throughly enjoyed the majority nonetheless.
