What a delightful read! Girl power, doing battle with authority, music, friendship, an ace character who actually can talk about her identity, a pregnant teen who has her own story line, and making it cool to be interested in safe sex, consent, and all?
If this is what we can expect from young(er) authors, then we don‘t have to worry; this book was all the right things, with a sweet romance and personal journey on top. A must read for everyone.
I was intrigued by @Lovesbooks87 ‘s post about this over the weekend, so I got my hands on a copy and now that I‘m done with house chores I can sit down and read.
There are a lot of areas where my health classes were lacking, but an abstinence-only curriculum wasn‘t one of them. That said, four girls in my home room didn‘t finish 10th grade because even in 1992 my school urged pregnant teens to drop out.
Lacey is in high school. Her high school teaches an abstinence only health class. She doesn't agree with it so her and her friends take it into their own hands and start educating their classmates about safe sex. Lacey is also trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life after school as well as trying to figure out her own love life. I felt this book was written really well and the author didn't hold anything back.
