This book was inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson‘s short story ‘The Bottle Imp,‘ & it‘s a fun story about being careful what you wish for. Instead of a genie in a lamp, there‘s an imp in a bottle. Instead of only 3 wishes, the possessor of the bottle gets unlimited wishes...but each comes with a price. Every time someone wins, someone else loses—something Gabe Silver learns when the bottle comes into his keeping. A satisfyingly eerie, fun MG read.

It‘s back to the depths of my TBR stack(s) I go for my next read. I feel like something a little mischievous this afternoon and a MG book illustrated by Gris Grimly surely fits the bill. I bought this book specifically because it was illustrated by Grimly—let‘s hope the story lives up to the illustrations. 🤞 I mean, look at that cover! 😍

I really enjoyed this story! I can imagine both boys and girls would love this one. It's a great #middleschoolbookpick #goldensowernominee
It has the same flavor as a Lemony Snicket book.
