This book addresses gender stereotypes in the illustrations while maintaining them in the rhyming. I was hoping for this to push the point that anyone can dress like a girl. But it doesn't. I was underwhelmed.

#ReallyRandomFebruary Day 28: Fats‘ review: “In #Dress Like a Girl, a group of young girls get together for a slumber party that transforms into a fashion show of sort! The girls ask themselves Qs like: Can you wear a space suit during the summertime? What about a firefighter‘s bright red outfit, or a police officer‘s vibrant blue uniform? Are jerseys and helmets perfect for game day?” Full review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-l2L

I really wanted to like this book. The ending made up for a beginning I hate. The beginning says that there are rules to dressing that girls need to find their own ways to “adhere” to. And then the next few pages are about wearing white or wearing a dress. I think it would have been better to explain while certain things are standard or considered proper than saying you must obey some arbitrary rule.
This one has some nice content with diverse illustrations and the idea that a little girl can dress and grow up to be anything they want. However I wasn‘t enthralled.
