One of the earlier works of Han Kang, and I'm not sure if there's already an English translation. The German title can be translated as: Your Cold Hands

This story is filled with symbolism, at least to me it felt like that. And I'm glad I didn't read this book earlier in my life, because it deals with eating disorders and assaults. So trigger warnings for this. Kang shows us how superficial society can be and how that destroys us in many ways.

Das Buch hat mir leider gar nicht gefallen. Der Protagonist war mir unsympathisch, sowie fast alle Handlungen der Personen für mich nicht wirklich nachvollziehbar. Zudem fand ich es schwer die sehr negative Grundstimmung die das Buch durchzieht gut auszuhalten. Schade, da ich dem nüchternen und doch eindrücklichen Schreibstil der Autorin durchaus zugetan war.

Early in his life the protagonist of this book realizes that people often put on a mask for others and hide their true feelings and pain behind it. His mother, with her fake and cold smile, L who tries to numb her inner scars with eating and E, who tries to hide a secret from her childhood with her perfectionism - fragile and broken people that hide behind a hard mask shape his art, his life. Very mesmerizing read 4/5⭐️

I havn‘t been reading much lately as life was just too busy - job hunting in corona times, selling our apartment, buying a new one,... But it seems as if it will all slow down soon, the contracts for buying/selling should soon be finished and I also finally see a light regarding the job hunt🙏🏼 So I really hope that I will find more calm to sit down and read soon - starting tonight with my two current reads☺️ I hope you all have a great day😘

‚New‘ Han Kang book😍 originally published in 2002 in korean, last week the german version was published! I don‘t know if it is out in english as well,but I couldn‘t find it. I‘m super excited for it! I hope I will get to reading it soon❤️
