The Dandelion Insurrection
The Dandelion Insurrection: Love and Revolution | Rivera Sun
7 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
In a time that looms around the corner of today, under a gathering storm of tyranny, Zadie Byrd Gray whirls into the life of small town reporter Charlie Rider and asks him to become the voice of the Dandelion Insurrection. With the rallying cry of life, liberty, and love, Zadie and Charlie fly across America leaving a wake of revolution in their path. Passion erupts. Danger abounds. The lives of millions hang by a thin thread of courage, but in the midst of the madness, the golden soul of humanity blossoms . . . and miracles start to unfold! Author Rivera Sun creates mythic characters from everyday people. She infuses the story of our times with practical solutions and visionary perspectives, drawing the reader into a world both terrifying and inspiring . . . a world that could be our own.

It wasn't as bad as it could have been. Fairly preachy and heavy handed, with a mediocre plot winding through detailed explanations of the writer's political views. Self published and as far to the left as you can get (house cats described as animal slavery in a toss away comment), it was oddly amusing, especially given current events. Bought this at a #FOTL book sale in the library in my very conservative town. Lol #MountTBRChallenge2020

SleepyDragon She's actually a decent writer. This book was just a little too over the top to be very good. 4y

Total for #24B4Monday: 7 hours, 22 minutes

Not bad for me!

Focused on the tagged book, not great literature but oddly amusing, and read to about 67%. Despite many long-winded, preachy passages, this book is turning out to be a quick read for this slow reader.

"You can still see the book, so my sitting on your lap isn't a problem."

I guess I'll just read between your ears, then ...

5 hours, 4 minutes as of Saturday night. The protagonists finally hooked up, a little less than halfway through the book. #24B4Monday

Good lord, this is cheesier and preachier than the "save the planet" poetry I wrote in jr high. It's bad enough to be weirdly entertaining, though. Just realized it was self published by a liberal vegan living in a Spaceship Earth house somewhere. How it ended up in the library book sale here in redneck hickville is beyond me! Lol

Gonna try to get a good start on the tagged book this weekend, so might as well play along with the readathon that once upon a time I gifted my hashtag idea to. #24B4Monday. Have a nice weekend, everybody.

Morning #FOTL bookshop haul. Bottom one is on my #TBR already. Tagged just sounded interesting, though no one has yet to review it on Litsy. It has an average of 4 stars on Goodreads, though. Usually, I don't find much on the for sale shelves at the library, but the last few weeks have been fruitful. Not sure that's a good thing. Lol 📚😁

jessinikkip Ive been meaning to read the bottom one, I just havent yet LOL 6y
SleepyDragon @jessinikkip I had it on my wishlist on Overdrive for over a year. Maybe now that I have a physical copy, I'll get around to it. Lol 6y

Crazeedi I liked in the garden, very interesting 6y
SleepyDragon @jessinikkip Probably will be at least a month or two. I already have March fairly mapped out, and I'm a slow reader by Litsy standards. 6y
SleepyDragon @Crazeedi I've heard good things. It was on a list of supplemental reading last year for my friend's book club. 6y
