Just finished this in one long, breathless rush. Brilliant and fascinating meditations on identity and race in America. Forceful and lyrical. Highly recommended.

Just started this. I saw Andre Perry speak in Cleveland at a bookseller event a few months ago, and now I‘m wondering why I waited so long. What a voice!
🎉NEW BOOK DAY🎉Here are some of the week‘s new books! There are several more out today that I‘m excited about, including All-American Muslim Girl by Nadine Jolie Courtney, The Pursuit of William Abbey by Claire North, The Innocents by Michael Crummey, and Highway of Tears: A True Story of Racism, Indifference, and the Pursuit of Justice for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls by Jessica McDiarmid. What are you excited to read? 📚❤️📚
4/5🌟This book took me completely by surprise! Its personal, soulful, vulnerable and just really good. Like sitting down with an old friend you havent seen in a while. It read like a coming of age memoir in essays. Perry gets very personal as he relays his experiences. Themes of identity, race, and belonging are found throughout. For a debut collection his writing chops are well honed. He's a very intelligent writer. Available November 12th!
