I had such a good experience when I went to visit the Imperial War Museum in London that I decided to purchase this book to have a deeper understanding with what happened during the First World War. I can‘t really find anyone else on the internet reading this at the moment, but I‘d love to have someone to talk to about it 🩵 I‘m not done yet but I feel like this book is going to be one of my favorites.

1. The Complete Arrow‘s Trilogy: Arrow‘s Fall

- I‘m loving Arrow‘s Fall compared to Arrow‘s Flight.

2. My indoor #greenhouse (using an IKEA Detolf Cabinet).

- It‘s hard growing plants in the desert.

3. Jim Henson‘s The Storyteller: Ghosts #1 by Márk László.

- I really enjoyed this graphic novel.

Currently reading Arrow‘s Flight 🤯 Kris and Talia??? Wth, why??? Totally turned off.

GondorGirl Keep reading... I don't want to spoil anything, but you'll probably be happy it happened later in the trilogy. 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl oh thanks! Something to look forward to! Almost finished with Arrow‘s Flight. 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads The Valdemar books are my favorites ever. I've been reading them since I was 15 and have read the entire series multiple times. I can't wait to hear what you think about the rest of this trilogy. 3y
See All 9 Comments
vumblereads Okay will let you know! 😊 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl finished the trilogy! I know what you mean now when you mentioned something about later in the series. I found the 3 books okay, I feel like it could be better? But since it was written earlier (80‘s?), I think it was pretty good especially since it has LGBTQ themes in it. Didn‘t think there would be rape in there too. Im not a fan of the second book though, there really wasn‘t much plot but only character development I guess for talia 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl what other valdemar books do you recommend? 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads A number of years later she wrote the Wind trilogy which follows Elspeth. I think those are my favorite books in the entire series. The Arrows books are where it all started, but the series evolved a lot over the years. 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads I also really love the Owl trilogy, which follows the Hawkbrothers more than the Heralds. 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl aww I‘d like to know what happened to Elspeth! Thanks! 3y

This was so addicting I kind of want to read it all over again. It was an emotional journey! This book just made me feel good! And I can‘t get over it. I‘m watching YouTube videos about it, lurking the authors page on goodreads, trying to see if there‘s other books in the series.... I don‘t get this obsessed with a book unless I really love it! Someone asked me, “why is it taking so long for you to finish that book?”

I look at my 724 paged book in my hands and didn‘t know what to say.

Some books for me are light reads and others are heavy reads 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I never thought of reading as a competition to who finishes first.

I wanted to read this slow and savor every moment of the novel.

And wouldn‘t you rather see people reading than not reading at all?

Merry Christmas to all #littens

Birdsong28 Totally agree with you about this. I see people reading 10-20 books a month on here and I barely get through 2-3 a month due to work and family and I just think at least I pick up a book. I have managed to complete my GoodReads challenge of 45 and have got it to 92 books so far (as I will be finishing at least 2 more by the end of year) but sometimes I do feel a bit pressured to read more but I just want to do what suits me. 📚📖 4y
vumblereads @Birdsong28 congratulations on completing your GR challenge! 92 books is impressive! I finished 100 books so far but I read manga and picture books too or whatever interests me at the moment. 4y
vumblereads @Zelma yes I agree! Each reader is different. Some people assume that everyone who reads books belong in one category. 4y

Fascinating. It shifts the lens and allows the readers to see the behind the scenes of the Fuhrer aka Patient A and basically the men behind Adolf Hitler. This was such a wonderful and *stimulating* read, I was addicted. I will probably get a second dose of this in the future. Currently now shelved as a favorite. Books after all are my drug.

Currently on page 108. I‘m thinking about DNF-ing this book. I‘m having a hard time following and it feels so scattered. I‘m reading paragraphs of monologuing that my mind ends up wandering. Does it get better? I feel guilty feeling this way when it supposedly has high ratings

ElizaMarie Not every book is for everyone. I do feel guilty sometimes for DNF-ing as well. But maybe put it aside and try it again later? You might not be in the right frame of mind for it? Or it just doesn't speak to you. 4y
NeedsMoreBooks I enjoyed it as I got the views of so many characters. However, do not feel guilt about DNF-ing. Life is too short yo read books that you don‘t like 😊 4y
mom2bugnbee I DNF'd Water for Elephants, The Goldfinch, & The Underground Railroad. Saying that a book isn't right for you doesn't mean it isn't a good book. Don't feel guilty! Your life it too short & your TBR too long! 😁 4y

The Crown Of Dalemark | Diana Wynne Jones
Pickpick

Whew! This book was long! And the ending was even longer than I expected! Out of all 4 books from the Dalemark Quartet, Drowned Ammet is by far my favorite. Followed by Cart and Cwidder, and then Crown of Dalemark. With Spellcoats being the last.

Today is a rest day for me. I injured my left ankle so I‘ve been doing R.I.C.E. (rest-ice-compression-elevate) and meds for it.

Despite the injury, I managed to make some Pao de Queijo. It‘s pretty easy. I love the chewiness of it. Usually my go to cheese is feta but I used Parmesan and mozzarella this time around.

The hardest part of being a bookworm is when you feel so excited about a certain series but nobody you know has read it. So you can‘t really talk to anyone about it except to air it out in social media. Another struggle is finding the people who actually like to read #highfantasy. It‘s a lonely world out here 😅 #soloreads

So far I‘ve given the first 2 books of the series, 5 stars! Diana Wynne Jones is a badass fantasy author!

Cailey_Mac I‘ve never heard of this series, but I definitely wanna give it a try! I definitely know that struggle though; usually my boyfriend and best friend let me gush about it but they have no clue what I‘m talking about 😅 4y
BethM I looooove fantasy! I‘ve never read this series but I‘ve read some of her other work! 4y
vumblereads @cailey_mac yes please do and please tell me what you think! Yes I do have people to talk to but it‘s either they‘re not book people or if they are, they‘re very mainstream book people 😅 4y

vumblereads @CoffeeCatsBooks Oh yay another fantasy fan! I have the Studio Ghibli dvd and the book too of Howls Moving Castle. I first knew about Diana Wynne Jones because of the Studio Ghibli movie. I haven‘t read the book version though but I‘ve heard the series is really good too. 4y
Cailey_Mac @vumblereads ooo I will try to read these soon! And I deff understand that😅 4y
Deifio I read mostly fantasy, never heard of this series! Stack add! I have my sister and mother to talk about and trade fantasy books, I"m really lucky! ? 4y
vumblereads @deifio lucky! But good to know there‘s a few folks on Litsy who read fantasy 😄 4y
BethM If you‘re looking for “high” fantasy go with Patrick Rothfuss‘ king killer chronicles- they‘re exceptional. 4y
vumblereads @BethM I‘ve heard about the King Killer Chronicles. He‘s definitely in my TBR! Thank you! 4y
Scochrane26 What‘s high fantasy compared with fantasy? Just curious. 4y
vumblereads @scochrane26 😄 It‘s a subcategory of Fantasy with a medieval type setting or something that has its own world. Like LOTR and ASOIF 😄 (edited) 4y
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards I love fantasy, but fantasy authors do insist upon writing lengthy series I can't keep up with while finishing my PhD! Good thing I got to teach Fantasy Lit a few semesters ago to hold me over. 4y
vumblereads @SaunteringVaguelyDownwards you teach fantasy lit?! Wow 🙌🏼 that‘s the best job ever!!! Your work is your hobby is your work! and I love your username! 😂 4y
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards @vumblereads It was a lot of fun! We did tons of creative projects like remixing Shaun Tan's graphic novel The Arrival to tell different stories in that same fantasy universe, and talked with the Jim Henson archivist and saw some of his work in the university's collection. 4y
