I enjoyed this light read. I recommend it to anglers and those interested in politics.

Technically, this was one of the best epistolary novels I've ever read. All the separate forms of written communication employed here told a compelling story when put together. Sure this started slow, but with the premise this had, it's understandable. It's an unusual, and even absurd topic. But once I made it past the first half, I was hooked. Not knowing how I felt after the end was a bonus.

Sheikh Mohammed has a vision, he wants to take salmon fishing from the Highlands to his country, the Yemen.
The emails and memos from the British government wanting to be involved with the project because they want to be seen to be involved in non military action in the Middle East to the Scientists shaking their heads in astonishment at the proposal.
A stinging satire on British politics and the ways of the Middle East, this was a fun read.
Dr. Alfred Jones is scientist alienated from his ambitious wife, stuck in his daily routine, but some day he is invited to take part in an utopian project - the salmon settlement in #Yemen, which is the idea of a mysterious and reserved sheik. His life changes completely, full of vigor he embarks on a project, but of course not everything goes as originally planned. Some drama, humor, political intrigues, satire, some light and some dark ... 👇
Seen some people using this app on litsy, decided to give it a go and I love being able to see how long I‘m reading and how much progress I‘m making, a great way to keep track 👍🏻
A surprising ending (at least for me) to this fairly delightful book. I enjoyed the multi cast reading of the audiobook as the narrators managed to capture the humour of it.
Will have to see if I can find the movie and see if it manages to capture the spirit of the book.

Started this today. Seems to be somewhat in the epistolary format so hoping that I can keep up with it on audiobook. 😂😂

According to records, some species caught in the fisheries sector in Yemen include tunas, sardines, mackerel, #barracuda, snappers, solefish, shrimp, lobster and cuttlefish...but salmon? Is that possible? 🤷♀️ Have to read the book to find out. 😉

Faith is a curious thing.
It is not necessarily pertaining to a particularly diety. Rather I believe it is a force of nature.
That primitive urge in us to keep on moving.
And when you believe in something so much so that you become one with that idea, you are believing in yourself.
You become God.
Opening line:
