Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland
Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland | Disney Book Group, Jon Scieszka
7 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
The fantastical tale of a young girl chasing her White Rabbit has delighted children since Lewis Carroll wrote it generations ago. Here his Wonderland shines anew, viewed through the looking glasses of two incomparable artists. Mary Blair's vibrant art helped shape the look of Walt Disney's classic animated film. Collected in a picture book for the first time, her illustrations capture the essence of such memorable characters as the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter with stunning immediacy. Jon Scieszka's captivating text celebrates all that is curious-and all that is nonsensical-about the world that holds Alice spellbound, from a deliciously absurd tea party to the spectacle of a kingdom of playing cards . Brimming with wit and wonder, this sparkling retelling will enchant readers from the moment Alice falls down the rabbit hole, whether or not they've made the journey before.

This is a great photo to represent the art in this book. The textures, dimensions, high saturation, and fun colors in the art is like eye candy.

“Flowers can‘t talk”
“Of course we can talk,” said Rose
“If there is anyone worth talking to,” added Iris

I love this quote, its silly and one of my favorite parts of the story. When Alice discovers the flowers can talk after hearing a whisper

Jon Scieska retell of Walt Disney‘s Alice in Wonderland. The draws seem like oil pastels, bringing in lots of fun colors and and fun drawings within. The illustrations have different textures giving the art a good dimension. The artwork alone draws the reader in along with the classic story of Alice. One of my favorite stories! A good read!

Spring always reminds of the song, All in the Golden Afternoon, from the Disney cartoon Alice in Wonderland. There was a time ago when children's book illustrators/authors like Cynthia Rylant and Jon Scieszka were doing the Disney classics and I started collecting them. I only ended up with this one and Snow White.
