This book could be used when talking about individuality. I think this book would be a good social-emotional book because Ella Sarah wears what she wants even though others are telling her otherwise.

This is a silly book that allows for students to understand that standing up for something that you believe in is important. I also like how in the end as she stuck with it made her and her friends happy.

I loved this in that, Ella Sarah knows exactly what she wants. The people around her have differing opinions, but she still stands her ground, to the end! This sends a great message that you can be different and have your own opinions and people will still doubt you, but there will be people in your corner that don‘t!

This adorable picture book by Margaret Chodos-Irvine will be, in my opinion be best under RF. I see this happening to most little girls' Ella Sarah's age & maybe even many other age groups for that matter. The UDL 2.4 & 9.3 regarding promoting understanding across languages & develop self-assessment & reflection along with EL 5 for teaching technical vocabulary supporting key concept. This book was also awarded the Caldecott medal. #UCFLAE3414F19

this reminds me of my little brother when he was younger. he loved dressing up with my dresses and other “girly” clothes. my parents, understanding it‘s normal for kids to pursue different interests, wether it‘s considered a “boy” or “girl” interest, allowed him to do this when he wanted. They allowed him to choose what he played with.

Ella Sarah Gets Dressed is an adorable, quick, sassy story. Ella wants to pick her own outfit, but her family members had other opinions. This didn‘t stop Ella, she persisted and eventually ended up wearing what she wanted. I think this shows how unique and creative children are. They love bright colors and new things and we as parents and teachers shouldn‘t necessarily hinder that.

Ella Sarah Gets Dressed by Margaret Chodos-Irvine was written in 2003 and is a Caldecott Honor book. I think this book teaches a good message about being yourself. Ella Sarah is told by everyone around her that they don‘t like what she wants to wear, but she sticks to her gut and wears what she wants and her friends love it and are dressed just like her. This can promote individuality among children and help them be comfortable with themselves.
