"Every fantasy epic ends with a war. But what happens when the war is over? After posing as a man to join the army, Jenner Faulds returns home to The Feld for a new start as a Fairmana specially licensed private investigator. But sexism didnt end on the battlefield, and as the only Fairlady, Jenner gets stuck with the cases nobody else wants. Hitting the streets to solve The Felds overlooked mysteries, Jenner finds that the smallest cases hide the biggest secrets. Writer Brian Schirmer, artist Claudia Balboni (Star Trek), and colorist Marissa Louise team up for FAIRLADYan all-new series with the procedural case-solving of Magnum P.I. and Fables, but set in a vibrant, RAT QUEENS-like high fantasy world. Plus, thisand everyissue contains a complete 30-page story!"

I sort of feel like this tells you everything you need to know: “I pitched Fairlady as ‘a gender-swapped Magnum, P. I. in a post-War-of-the-Ring world.‘” Of course I like the way the writer thinks! Doesn‘t it sound awesome? I thought it was a solid—momentum was slowed a little by world building & backstory—if not spectacular first issue but it was definitely good enough that I‘ll keep reading. Really like the world, the premise, & the art.

It‘s a cold & rainy #NCBD this week—at least we aren‘t getting any snow! Just a few comics this week. First up—WONDER WOMAN! This cover!!! Picked up Sharkey the Bounty Hunter #2 because of Skottie Young‘s variant cover. Also picked up the first issues of two new comics—Fairlady and Orphan Age. Not pictured, Bully Wars #1 which I picked up for my son to replace the one that met an unfortunate end scrunched up between his dresser & the wall.
