The Big Love
The Big Love: A Novel | Sarah Dunn
2 posts | 8 read | 3 to read
Alison Hopkins isn't just looking for Mr. Right . . . or even Mr. Big. She's holding out for the Big Love. When 32-year-old Alison's first real boyfriend unceremoniously dumps her - he steps out to buy mustard for a dinner party and never returns - it's time for Alison to reassess her lifelong search for romantic fulfillment. Does true love even exist? Is every romantic involvement with a coworker inevitably doomed? Does sex without commitment always lead to disaster? Is a girl's evangelical Christian upbringing an impediment to her finding true happiness? Funnier than any "chick-lit," as poised and accomplished as any literary debut this year, The Big Love is a big-hearted, hilariously entertaining novel that readers all across America are falling for. eBook now includes a preview of Sarah Dunn's The Secrets to Happiness.

Pickpick

Shame, shame, shame on you Sarah and whoever your editor/whoever was that let you get away with ending this book short of the 100-200 pages more it deserved. I loved this. I loved the neurotic mc, Allison, who takes the long and hilarious way around a point. If you were raised in a very conservative lifestyle then grew up to find yourself struggling with your new liberal reality, this chic lit is for you. But that whole ending...LAME.

Cinfhen Ugh!!! Shitty LAME endings are a definite #PetPeeve 7y
Reggie This ending works in a movie but not a book. SK's IT is well over 700 pgs. Prince of Tides is over 700 pgs. Im just saying ...at 224 pgs. Sarah coulda put in a little more work. Cause the rest was pretty good. Ugh, @Cinfhen, I feel like I have egg on my face. Lol (edited) 7y
Cinfhen Ha! So should I skip it??? 7y

Reggie I'm allowed a freebie, right? I've recommended some good books, so if this one turns out to be bad, my book reputation won't be forever tainted in your eyes? Lol, just a warning, I gave Zombie Bake-Off a pick. But no, don't skip it. 7y
Cinfhen Yea, I noticed that THUMBS UP for the Zombies 🤣I'm going to do a library request, so no bad feelings if I don't like this one😁 7y
LauraBeth Zombie bake-off 😂 7y
Reggie As someone who once championed Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers to get its due, if you ever need a book to zero out any kind of book hangover or just need to veg out I totally recommend Zombie Bake-Off @LauraBeth lol. (edited) 7y

Yeesh!!!!! Meet Allison. The first two pages of this book are her and her live-in boyfriend of 4 years, Tom, having a dinner party. She sends him out for mustard and an hour later he calls and says its over and he's in love with someone else and he never comes back. This quote is pages later. Neurotic is the word that comes to mind, but I feel doesn't do her justice. Having a good time so far with this one. Lol

Cinfhen Hehe 😂 waiting for your final review but sounds promising 7y
Reggie @Cinfhen it's so funny. I was laughing out loud on my breaks today. 7y
