Finally colored my own cross today... I'm not a fan of how the ink bled from the copier but real life isn't perfect that's why I need a Savior. ✝️
Reading Shades of Light felt like a journey. Some of the travel with Wren was difficult because mental illness is a tough path. There were many green pastures full of grace and compassion that were tended to by loving people like Kit, Hannah, and Mara. I was refreshed each time I learned a bit more about Vincent Van Gogh, his letter, and his art. I was most comforted by the gentle soothing of Wren thru the Master‘s touch on her heart.
Oh how I am enjoying learning about Vincent Van Gogh while reading this book. I do not believe historians have accurately portrayed his faith in God and love for people.
Sharon Garlough Brown has done the tough research to give us a compassionate glimpse of the fierce hold of depression.
This statement from Wren while she is in a mental hospital comes after a precious moment when she has done something simple to show she cares for another patient.
Hannah Allen is a character from the Sensible Shoes series. I felt such relief for Wren as I read this paragraph in Chapter5. I knew that Hannah would be able to share the love & compassion of Jesus to Wren. 🌻
I'm just beginning to see how Wren feels she has to hide her mental health from those around her.

“May you find trustworthy companions, in joy and in sorrow.”
I can't wait to attend the release night activities at Baker Book House tomorrow evening.
You will explore and experience so very much while reading this book. Heartache and hope. Brokenness and healing. Fear and courage. The illusion of control and the release of surrender. And, you might just acquire a greater appreciation for artists. I loved and am intrigued about all the references to Vincent Van Gogh and I fully intend to learn more about him and his story. I loved this book!
I couldn‘t turn of the dark thoughts no matter how hard I prayed. I was desperate!
I spent the whole weekend in bed crying. The crying was constant, I couldn‘t stop it.
I‘ve dealt with bouts of depression before. A kind of dark cloud I have learned to live with. This time it was different. It felt like I was going under, I felt that I would never feel hopeful again. It only made my anxiety worse.
To my #LitsyLove pals, who I have already written to, you know that this opportunity thrills me! I don't have adequate words to describe the immense JOY that this Facebook notification gave me tonight. #ShadesOfLight
I received this lovely sticker when I requested bookmarks from Sharon Garlough Brown to share with my #LitsyLove Penpals. I created this binder to keep my stamps, stationary, and address list. It's been great to have everything I need in one binder to take on the go.
That's 12 #LitsyLove letters ready to go out in the mail 📪 tomorrow. I'm looking forward to learning more about my new friends. One Scooby Doo sticker left over for my grandson.
Oh how I love these early morning emails from Goodreads..
