#fromthetbrstacks ebook edition

I really want to like this book. I have too many grievances against it though. It jumps back and forth between first and third point of view and I don't see the reason why the author would jump between Carmela's perspective and then a narrator's. It is set during a time period that I have not read or studied - how Fidel Castro became the Communist leader and I really, really want to like this book because of that fact alone.

I downloaded this book for free from Amazon for International Book Day because the setting of the Cuban revolution interested me. I‘m not sure if it is the original writing or the translation, but the writing felt really flat to me. It also irritated me greatly that the narration switched from first person Carmela to first person Ignacio to third person. It was confusing and didn‘t add anything to the story.

Oops... I got them all.

Last year, I dnloaded the nine titles they offered for World Book Day and, I admit it's pretty hit and miss BUT there's bound to be at least one that you'll like :-)
