This audiobook was between a so-so and a pick. It was okay. The woman reader was fairly good. This is one of a series and is the first book I've read by Anne Hillerman. I wonder if I would've liked this one better if I had begun at the beginning of the series. Although there were some things that carried over from previous books, there were enough hints that you could pick up what had happened previously. Overall, an okay pick.

I love Anne Hillerman‘s mysteries. Selfishly, I love the comfort of continuing to experience the lives of her Dad‘s characters and, the characters that she has introduced are rich and interesting. That said, I found the plot of the TALE TELLER a bit weak. I hate to say it, but I think she “phoned it up n” on this one.

Looking forward to the next one.

4 star. Anne Hillerman does a great job with the characters; considering she is continuing her father's series, the characters feel very authentic. My continuing criticism with her books however is that there are too many cases happening at once. Also married Chee and Bernie NEVER get to spend any time together.

Hillerman writes consistently good mysteries, with strong character and plot development. I'm glad she so capably picked up and continued the series after her dad's death.

I stayed up way too late last night finishing this. Anne Hillerman is one of my favorite authors. While the mystery part of her stories is always interesting and well-written, I am fascinated by the Navajo history and culture she includes in each book. I learn something every time.
