Unique and fun story. I liked the plot although it had a slow start and seems geared towards a younger crowd (with certain dialogue and language-or lack thereof). The sci-fi parts were innovative and my favorite parts! 3/5 stars.

“Nature has a way of taking care of itself, if we only step aside.” -Sarah‘s Mom
Kind of who I picture as Sam or Kase. (Chris Hunter from South of Nowhere)
(Sam to Sarah) “The pain does fade, Sarah.”
“Does it?”
“It doesn‘t go away, but one day you wake up and find it‘s a part of you.”
“People are like stars, but it‘s stories that turn us into constellations. If we don‘t tell our stories, we burn alone in the dark.”
page 99 quote. Sarah‘s mom says “The most beautiful things are often the most dangerous.”
Uh oh. Found a mistake! On page 44, Miranda says “We‘re all DOING to die!”
This was kinda tough. Lol. I encourage all to try it. I really had forgotten about Katniss...

“The sky was a dying fire, embers turning to ash, as night settled quietly over the great Kalahari.”
Well, this was a fun, action-packed quick read! I read the other two books in this series around a year ago, and I was hesitant to pick this one up, but I ended up enjoying the plot and overall story.

4.5/5⭐. This had all the action Vitro didn't. I held my breath during this wild ride through the desert. The environment, as in Origin, was a living element. Apparently Khoury researched in Africa, which paid off. I liked the characters experiencing Corpus from the outside, not understanding, but fighting to survive. I also liked the main character's competence, drive, & difficulty connecting to other characters. Highly recommend. #projectsams

Gorgeous.

Pretty excited to read this. Any book with animals is a book I love!
Waiting in the doctor's office, engrossed in this sci-fi thriller...don't want them to call my name just yet! 😆
Started off slow and I was almost ready to quit, thinking that I couldn't read this YA book and then it took off. Really liked how it moved quickly and explained the animal life and the ways to stay alive in the Kalahari. Oh and there is some science fiction so it's a win win situation. It's another pick for our summer reading list!
Made a deal with my 11-year old cousin to read these two books by Jessica Khoury if she reads Harry Potter so these are next on my list 😄
@KennethTolesJr and I braved the weather to go to the exclusive Scholastic Book fair! Lol, we made it and got lots of books for a great deal!
