Way better than I thought! And my bookmark matched! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one didn't seem as fleshed out as Origins but I still enjoyed it. I've got the next on order from the library so I hope to finish it all up in a week.

3/5⭐ The plot was thin. The first 2/3 dragged. The end action & character motivations seemed forced or obviously, deliberately placed just to reach a conclusion. I wasn't invested in the characters, plot, or atmosphere like I was in the first book, Origin. The switching POV chapters didn't help with cohesion. It did have some important themes, especially surrounding Sophie's independence & the morality of the Vitros' treatment. #projectSAMS
I did love the idea of the general story line with the exceptional twins and secret island and all that. However, I feel as though it could have been written.... better when it came to details and little scenes. The writing style is not my favorite as the beginning wasn't too exciting; nor were the characters very relatable. The chain of events weren't my cup of tea, but I'm going to read it again to see if my opinion changes.
I am honestly on chapter 5. I've had a major reading-block. It makes me sad. Either way, here is my first post here.
What I know:
-Mad Scientist for sure
-I've read another book by the same author and enjoyed it
No spoilers, yet.
