Kisses from Katie
Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption | Beth Clark, Katie Davis
10 posts | 29 read | 2 reading | 9 to read
Katie was a normal American teenager when she decided to explore the possibility of voluntary work overseas. She temporarily 'quit life' to serve in Uganda for a year before going to college. However, returning to 'normal' became impossible and Katie 'quit life' - college, designer clothes, her little yellow convertible and her boyfriend - for good, remaining in Uganda. In the early days she felt as though she were trying to empty the ocean with an eyedropper, but has learnt that she is not called to change the world in itself, but to change the world for one person at a time. By the age of 22 Katie had adopted 14 girls and founded Amizima Ministries which currently has sponsors for over 600 children and a feeding program for Uganda's poorest citizens - so it is no wonder she feels Jesus wrecked her life, shattered it to pieces, and put it back together making it more beautiful than it was before.

I was on the verge of tears through the entire book! This book shows how privileged many of us living in 1st world countries are, and how powerful the grace of God is.

Excellent book! Inspiring and convicting. Made me think about how I spend money and want is my responsibility to those who have so much less than I do.

Kisses from Katie had me in tears more than once as Katie Davis wrote about her story of being 22 and a mother to 13 beautiful Ugandan girls. Katie went on a short term mission trip to Uganda where she fell in love with the people and beautiful country. This B tells of her story learning to trust God in every situation, especially as she was running her own ministry and being a single mother to 13 girls. #UCFLAE3414SP20

VictoriaG I would use this book as an IR meeting UDL principle 7.1- Optimize individual choice and autonomy. This book also covers ESOL strategy- Maintain a library of supplementary books and workbooks written in simple English, which offer additional illustrations for problems. 4y
VictoriaG I read this book during my trip to Africa and it only made the dream of living there even more real for me. The best website I could find for this book is https://amazima.org/blog/ where katie posts blogs and you can learn about the ministry happening in Uganda.

Katie left home after high school graduation to volunteer in Uganda for a year and decided to stay. An inspiring story of the difference just one person can make in the lives of many. #Beatlemaynia She‘s Leaving Home @Eggs

I really liked this book. Katie is a fantastic human being and follower of Christ. I listened to the audiobook and didn't care for the narrator. She unfortunately took it from a sincere story of faith and saying yes no matter what to a little preachy and overly sweet. I recommend reading rather than listening.

My Katie is very content with #24in48 as it means lots of time spent with her.

And the tagged book is also incredible - I read it a few years ago and was awed by Katie‘s story.

My husband fell asleep. So, it's just me and Katie ringing in the new year. This book is bringing me so much joy that, really, there is nothing better I could be doing tonight.
