Just starting this one.

This has been on my short list for quite a while - a very powerful (and timely) book.

An easy to read book, enjoyable to pick up and read a chapter at a time.

Beautifully and creatively written - honest, powerful and intense. I‘m not sure what age it‘s written for, but I appreciated it as an adult, reading it practically in a single day (less than 24 hours).

What I‘m reading today.

I‘m glad I read this book again (required for a class, after reading it a few years ago), as I appreciated it more this time, but it didn‘t impact me as much as Jemar Tisby‘s and Bryan Stevenson‘s books.

Currently reading ... again; read this several years ago, and now it‘s required reading. Looking forward to hearing it from a fresh perspective.

I kind of mostly read this book but I couldn‘t tell you what it was about - convoluted and confusing.

This book was a delight to read. I started it in the evening before going to bed, & I found myself saying, "Just one more chapter ... I'll just read until I get to day 15 ...." I was at Day 25 before I finally turned out the lights after 1 am, & finished it the next day before noon. Graves writes as if you're having a conversation together, with warmth and wisdom. Being a 9, I saw myself on every page, & I've marked highlights in every chapter.

Book to read this week.

Astonishingly heartbreaking - so powerfully clear and convicting. I give it 10 stars out of 5! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I really had no idea what the book was about before reading it; wish I‘d read it long ago.

I don‘t usually recommend a book before I finish reading it but this one is amazing. I‘ve already written my assigned paper but am taking my time to truly read and not just skim this one. And I‘m looking forward to a conversation with him in a small group next week about this book - can‘t wait! Now to finish the book before then 😁

Referencing electrified light-rail systems with power transmitted by a third rail, the author says, “In politics, ‘the third rail‘ is any issue so controversial that it can‘t be addressed with much hope of success. ... In many churches and denominations around the world, the subject of how men and women relate in the church has become a third-rail issue.” I‘m about halfway thru - an interesting in-depth look @ gender differences in the Bible.

A very short (11 pages!) booklet on what physical decline may look like in the last few months to the last few days.

Interesting book discussing how art is viewed within the evangelical perspective. Even if the reader isn‘t evangelical, it‘s a helpful perspective in regard to a large number of US Christians.

Interesting book discussing the various cultures and how they differ, especially in regard to churches in the US. Helpful in regard to current culture and conversation challenges.

If you‘re looking to test/prototype an idea and want to learn how to get feedback, this book gives a step-by-step plan. The content/process was interesting and the authors injected some humor which is always appreciated.

I read this years ago (pre-Litsy) and it‘s haunted my reality ever since. It was horrifying, appalling, eye-opening and riveting. It‘s come up in conversation over the years, and it‘s a large part of why I have no desire to go to Florida (sorry, any Floridians). And it‘s on sale for $1.99 - I think for the whole month of January! I look forward to rereading it.

So, I‘m really late to the party on this one. It‘s been on my shelf for years and I finally made time to read it this past weekend. I‘ve read a number of Backman‘s books and enjoyed most of them. This one didn‘t disappoint. I laughed, felt like I truly understood the characters, and could relate with them. I plan on reading everything Backman writes.

This book was published at just the right time. I appreciated the author‘s experience of living through challenging times, or “wintering.” She normalizes the cycles we all experience of having ups and downs of life and encourages us to make peace with them while we live through them.

I didn‘t know until a month or two ago that Tolkien write letters to his children as Santa. What a beautiful collection, with his original script and pictures he drew. I enjoyed reading it in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Photos and short stories - what‘s not to love about this? Funny and poignant.

This is a kind of unusual little book, but oh so beautifully written. It read like poetry almost, an easy and enjoyable read. The characters made some interesting choices but I enjoyed the character development and how beautifully it was written. I had a hard time putting it down and read it in less than 24 hours. I‘m looking forward to reading more by this author.

I loved this book! This man intuited leadership essentials long before people were thinking or talking about leadership. There are movies about Shackleton that are also great. But if you‘re wanting to learn about leadership essentials, you‘ll want to read this book.

A unique book on leadership, looking at how we read and understand others and how we use our leadership to welcome or alienate others. I‘ve read a lot of books about leadership but none like this one, being aware of how one uses their leadership role in whatever context they are in, and being aware of one‘s presence and intent.

This was an interesting perspective on community from a Christian perspective. I especially enjoyed her chapter on hospitality and look forward to reading her book on hospitality.

This book arrives at a time when the world is greatly in need of gracious understanding and compassion for each other, in spite of various differences. The author writes clearly and provides meaningful examples. I was fortunate to be in a small group discussion with the author before the book was released, and she‘s delightful. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Delightful, quirky, fun - this book was a joy to read. Each chapter is a short story, so it‘s easy to pick up and enjoy without a lot of characters to keep track of. I can‘t wait to read more of this author.

I enjoyed this book, hearing of the author‘s experience on his bike trip, especially being familiar with some of the locations in Oregon, as well as knowing the author personally.
