Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, Fiction, Literary, Classics
Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, Fiction, Literary, Classics | Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
2 posts | 3 read | 5 to read
Since the year 1795, when it first appeared at Berlin, numerous editions of Meister have been printed: critics of all ranks, and some of them dissenting widely from its doctrines, have loaded it with encomiums; its songs and poems are familiar to every German ear; the people read it, and speak of it, with an admiration approaching in many cases to enthusiasm. The eponymous hero undergoes a journey of self-realization. The story centers upon Wilhelm's attempt to escape what he views as the empty life of a bourgeois businessman. After a failed romance with the theater, Wilhelm commits himself to the mysterious Tower Society.

#Reading1001 catching up on reviews and really can‘t remember what this was about but remember it taking forever to read. It involved plays, acting and Shakespeare but who knows why.

Daisey This review made me laugh but it did not at all make me want to read this book! I checked the audio length a while back and decided it was a clear no for my summer list. Sounds like I‘ll wait even longer now. 8mo

Thank you for tagging me @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks ❤️

When I was younger I refused to DNF any book. As I got older I realized that life is ti short to read books I don't enjoy. Since then I do DNF books, but I always give them second chances. Or third. Sometimes I even end up thinking 'Now I'm too far into the book to DNF it' 😅

This just happened with a book by Sarah J. Maas tbh 😅🙈

Moony What a suitable quote! 2y
