12 posts | 22 read | 18 to read
Welcome to Hanover House. Psychiatrist Evelyn Talbot has dedicated her life to solving the mysteries of the antisocial mind. After having been kidnapped, tortured and left for dead when she was just a teenager, by her high school boyfriend, she's determined to understand how someone she trusted so much could turn on her. So she's established a revolutionary new medical health center in the remote town of Hilltop, Alaska, where she studies the worst of the worst. But not everyone in Hilltop is excited to have Hanover House and its many serial killers in the area. Alaskan State Trooper, Sergeant Amarok, is one of them. He knows what could happen if one little thing goes wrong...

I think I have evolved as a reader away from the over the top crime mysteries that I was once drawn to. However I have a bajillion of them on my TBR and need to do a more thorough job of weeding them out. This is the prequel to a series and was otherwise fine just not for me.

TerriGreen It is so therapeutic to cull the TBR! 4y

This is the start of Brenda novak pyschological thrillers . It's about Evelyn Talbot who gpesnto Alaska to set up a psychotic faculty and she's not welcome with the whole idea with that in there town .not to mention her boyfriend tried to kill her when she was a teenager and now she believes he's dead. Surprise u learn early on he's not dead and he hasn't forgotten her so the story really picks up with him going after her. You will love this .

Psychiatrist Evelyn is setting up a facility in Alaska with some of the country‘s worst killers to learn what makes them do the things they do. She is motivated because as a teen she was attacked and left for dead by her high school sweetheart. This is a short book and is an intro into the series. I have had her other books on my TBR for a while and this was a nice appetizer. It did have a bit more romance than I care for but not a dealbreaker.

AmyG That sounds fascinating. 5y

Wow! It‘s intense and the 📚 is introducing all the 🔑 players. Evelyn who‘s emotionally scarred by her high school bf. And 20 yrs later, still doesn‘t open up to others. Amarok, the State Trooper in Hilltop where HH is being build dislike the idea it‘s built near his home. Jasper the high school bf is still on the run. Tim the psychiatrist who works with Eve is obsessed or 😍 with her. 👍🏻 Prequel. #brendanovak #romanticsuspense

What a great read. I read this after Her Darkest Nightmare. Read it first. Her Darkest Nightmare is really superbly written.

The thriller part of this book was very good. However, the romance side I could live without. If you like cheesy harlequin romances, go for it. Otherwise, probably wouldn't be your cup of tea.
