“Readers and writers should not deceive themselves that literature changes the world. Literature changes the world of readers and writers, but literature does not change the world until people get out of their chairs, go out into the world, and do something to transform the conditions of which the literature speaks.”
This book is the community read for my town this year. So far I‘m finding it thought provoking and bracing.

Cuilin Fabulous quote. Great choice for a community read. Stacked. 9mo

I‘m halfway through this collection of beautiful essays by refugee writers recounting and reflecting on their experiences and emotions. As the daughter and granddaughter of refugees that eventually immigrated to the United States, I am always drawn to these sorts of stories. I find comfort and a sense of belonging in their tales of war, loss, and hope for a brighter tomorrow.

I haven‘t finished a book since August. 😔 This one is going to make me cry, I just know it.

Just saw an ad for this on the Shelf Awareness email and thought it would be a great read for #booked2018 - #refugeeMC
The contributor list is awesome, including Kao Kalia Yang (whose The Song Poet is one of my favourite books), Aleksandar Hemon, Thi Bui and more.
Looks like the release date is the end of the month
