The Honest Life
The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You | Jessica Alba
5 posts | 4 read | 2 to read
As a new mom, Jessica Alba wanted to create the safest, healthiest environment for her family. But she was frustrated by the lack of trustworthy information on how to live healthier and cleaner--delivered in a way that a busy mom could act on without going to extremes. In 2012, with serial entrepreneur Brian Lee and environmental advocate Christopher Gavigan, she launched The Honest Company, a brand where parents can find reliable information and products that are safe, stylish, and affordable. The Honest Life shares the insights and strategies she gathered along the way. The Honest Life recounts Alba's personal journey of discovery and reveals her tips for making healthy living fun, real, and stylish, while offering a candid look inside her home and daily life. She shares strategies for maintaining a clean diet (with favorite family-friendly recipes) and embraces nontoxic choices at home and provides eco-friendly decor tips to fit any budget. Alba also discusses cultivating a daily eco beauty routine, finding one's personal style without resorting to yoga pants, and engaging in fun, hands-on activities with kids. Her solutions are easy, chic, and down-to-earth: they're honest. And discovering everyday ways to live naturally and authentically--true to you--could be honestly life-changing.

As a mom of two boys I enjoyed it. Made me really look into things. I will admit though I was not someone who changed everything in my life based around this book. But I am more aware.

This is the stack that's getting returned tomorrow! Thank god my library doesn't have a limit on how many books we can take out at a time! #librarybooks

jhod Oh my gosh - I am very thankful that mine does have a limit as otherwise I would lose all self control! 6y
Clwojick @jhod it's convenient for weekends like this when all I had planned was to read, so I easily knocked thru 20 since Friday. 6y
elizabethlk My library limit is 60, and I am constantly sitting at it. 6y

keithmalek I once saw this book at Barnes & Noble, and sarcastically asked my wife to get it for me for my birthday. I did this because my wife knows that I think Jessica Alba is the most gorgeous woman on the planet. 6y

Tonight's second recommendation is the third of the only books I found useful when I was pregnant. The Honest Life by Jessica Alba isn't just about parenting or pregnancy but it does cover a lot of that. It also specifically talks about being pregnant and having kids when you yourself deal with lots of allergies. #jessicalba #thehonestlife #parenting #naturalliving #allergies

alanacristin Ohh, as a mama with food allergies, this sounds helpful! 8y
Vexingcircumstance @alanacristin it doesn't deal a lot with food allergies. More with allergies to bath and cleaning products but you still may find some stuff in there about food allergies. I can't remember for sure. 8y
alanacristin BTW, I enjoyed Expecting Better since it made me feel less crazy about the choices I was making ❤ 8y
