i‘ve been loving these skinny books for summer because even though there‘s more daylight
i feel like there‘s less time 🥲

“There was a vulture on the mailbox
of my grandmother‘s house.” 🪶
is it really horror if I‘ve had some smiles while reading?
there are nerdy bug facts, spooky southern gardens,
& each chapter has opened with a wild dream so far!

27% in & this has 5⭐️vibes for me!
if #Sedona means anything to you, you have to read this. Bryant nails the place like no other! vortex pulls, Red Rock Fever, local lore, strange residents.
This is such a trip for me as I live less than an hour away & visit Sedona frequently! 🏜️

feels like this was designed to be an easy read & emotionally soothing, but it lingers on the idea of suicide & regret without fully honoring the complexity of depression.
at times, it felt more dismissive than healing.
though the writing stays calm & hopeful, it could be a tough read if you‘re emotionally vulnerable.
Nonetheless, I love self-help fiction with a bit of magic realism #magicrealism #hopeful #audiobooks #bibliophile #librarybooks

Fought to finish this one.. 😑
January‘s arc had so much potential, but in my opinion, it was overshadowed by the book-within-a-book structure.
Especially at moments when I really just wanted to sit with her and feel something. The pacing never snaps back into place. #lyricalprose #librarybooks #historicalfantasy #literaryfiction #bibliophile #fantasy
The asylum January is sent to seems to be inspired by the Brattleboro Retreat in Vermont. In 1887, patients built a lookout tower as part of their treatment, but later, many tragically jumped from the top. The tower was eventually sealed off, but eerie stories about it & the surrounding areas still persist.

Pelly untangles how most music discovery gets nudged by invisible hands – makes you wonder what‘s shaping your next #bookish obsession. It‘s like #truecrime without the serial killers, talking about algorithmic influence in a tech driven investigation. 🧐
It takes a little extra concentration to adsorb.

Monday finds me on #Seattle ‘s UW campus, where each of Barrett Bloom's steps feels borrowed from the day before. We get glimpses of Mount Rainier and references to Mercer Island and Bellevue—PNW has my heart. 🌲
